Most lottery winners end up in worse shape after winning than before. And the phone calls never. ever. stop.

Me being dutch, I'm distantly related to 3/4's of the entire illinois/iowa/michigan/indiana region.

I'd have to use the money to set up a call center

This is not true. Like anything else you hear the horror stories while the success ones stay silent. I watched a video on this topic not long ago (a YouTube rabbit hole situation) and only 12 to 15% of the winners of large prizes end up worse off afterward. Most of those were people that had no money at all before the win and had absolutely no idea how to manage money. It wasn't so much that the "wasted" it but more of a thought process there was so much it would never all be gone.
Those that were a bit more savoy actually made more money from their winnings. Most of course were someplace in the middle where they didn't lose it all and just lived comfortably.
Yes the common complaint was people constantly asking for a piece of the pie but most said that they could deal with that just by saying no.

Yep. I used to listen to a few financial guys on the radio and they all say the same thing; win the lottery and you have to learn to say NO.

She is doing OK. The day she found out she was understandably pretty hysterical and was feeling hopeless, but has settled down considerably and is trying her best to avoid too much "what if" thinking about treatment. I've been seeing my parents pretty much every day since last November just to try and keep sane during the pandemic, and I will continue to do that as long as they need.

I'm also trying to make sure my dad is OK. He doesn't express his feelings much but this is one of the few times I've seen him be openly upset and tear up a bit. Thanks for the kinds words and thoughts everyone. It's going to be a battle but we will stay as positive as we can.

Mom is in for a lumpectomy on April 22. 4-6 weeks to heal and then they will determine if further treatment (radiation most likely) is necessary.

Her latest appointment with oncologist went very well... confirmed it is very small and caught early and that her lymph nodes are clear.

It's not over yet but this news is good context for moving forward, and has provided some relief for everyone.

Other good news is both my parents got their first vaccine dose on Saturday...

Had a funny debate w my mom. I've sent her baby pic to her which was taken yesterday saying "1 month old". She said "Today is 1 month". I replied "No, today is 1 month & 1 day".

Who's right? Me? My mom?

My search technique is letting me down...I can't find a guide on the forum for routing the wiring for a back-up cam attached to a new head unit. Has anyone done a thread/guide on this that someone could point me toward?
