Going Harrop once cash frees up. Spend $20k for 28 horsepower or spend $7k for ~80 horsepower?

FWIW which probably ain't much, I like the car and what it represents. They could've canceled the platform altogether and nobody other than us would care. I wonder if Toyota would be able to sneak in a slightly more aggressive tune because of where this car fits in their product line.

I realize what you're saying.

I'm just saying with the way Tcoat is talking about it (and STI being its thing) it could be interchangeable.

i.e. if you go to GR Garage in Japan they sell GRMN stuff that you could put on an 86/BRZ.

Everybody has no doubt already seen the news, it's been picked up by every car site, but just in case here's Toyota's 'official' announcement of the GR86:

https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/toyota/34997138.html

I find it interesting that they're claiming the new car will be '1.1 seconds faster 0-60'. I don't care much for somewhat arbitrary 'numbers', but I'm eager to experience how it actually feels in my own personal 'seat-of-pants' meter.

I see an improvement at every angle but from the side it might be slightly longer in the wheelbase which I don't like.

I already have a Harrop kit. When I do a built motor and CD009 swap (after nursing school if nothing else interests me) then I want the FA24 block in there. More torque and power potential.

i think it was mentioned the wheelbase was only like 0.4 inches longer so it its effectively no change.

It’s 5mm. Under a 1/4”. You could probably get that from untorquing the subframes and shifting them away from the center .

Uhhh, the previous gen manual does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. Maybe slightly slower to 62. The auto was much slower. Odd that Toyota has it so slow.

0-60 is equal to 0-96 km/h. I think 0-62 is equivalent to 0-100km/h.

Ive seen the official 0-100km/h time be either 7.4 or 7.6.

I dont think second gear can rev to 60mph so you have to shift just before it, which i think accounts for a bit of the time increase.

Plus C&D uses aggressive launch technique to get that 6.2s time (6000rpm clutch drop or something). They always seem to have the fastest 0-60 times.
I think non-aggresive launches would be closer to just shy of 7 seconds 0-60.
Isnt the official 0-60 time like 6.5 or 6.9 seconds or something around there?

Just a thought, the small wheel base change could be related to some increased front caster...

Yea I think that’s very likely.
