The unveiling was delayed, but only by 3 months or so. Typical media adding their spin and speculation as usual.

I was curious if Toyota US had published a website for the GR86 yet so I checked. No GR86 yet, but they do still have this spot in their actual vehicle carousel UI element, under the "Upcoming Vehicles":

Hopefully we'll get news on it sometime this year.

One of the things I noticed was the change in spec to 12.5 to 1 compression.

It was 13.5 on the BRZ US fact sheet wasn't it?

Yeah we were kinda going back and forth about this.

Something got lost in translation somewhere so we dont actually know who has the real numbers:

The Subaru BRZ reveal back in late 2020 stated 13.5:1 CR and 228hp
The GR86 looks like it says 12.5:1 CR and 232hp.

The motor is going to be exactly the same everywhere but which reveal has the real numbers? lol

I think 12.5 is correct because the HP/l of the engine is actually slightly lower than the FA20

I feel like the back-end would look much better with a simple relocation of the rear-plate to where the Toyota logo is (more similar to the placement of the license plate on the Gen 1).
Cleans up that weird droopy thing in the rear "faux-diffuser" area, and gets rid of that flat expanse of negative space in the trunklid.

If I weren't so lazy (and incompetent), I'd photoshop it and post.

It's like if Subaru re-branded the BRZ as STI BRZ

I feel like it's interchangeable at this point.

Slightly different lights and interior trim and a different bumper. So pretty much the differences between the 86 and the BRZ that have always existed.

I still strongly dislike the side vents and running boards. There is no way the whole model line should be branded as GR since that is pure marketing bullshit.
Anticlimactic is right. And Isn't GR just pure marketing bullshit at this point anyway? It feels like TRD at this point. TRD is available basically all over the Toyota lineup. Trucks seem rarer in SR5 than TRD on our lot. Not special anymore, if it ever was that is. GR will be that way soon (if not already), and they will have come up with something new for people to lust over

I can't wait until somebody photoshop concave japanese wheels and a nice 1.5 - 2 inch drop because the only 2 thing's I dislike is the stock wheel gap and flat faces wheels.
