reminds me exactly of audio forums, and also exactly why i don't take part in them. somewhere, the 'purists' get lost in their own fanatical ideal and loose sight of simply enjoying the hobby as they started it.

i most enjoy seeing people start into the hobbies, and love doing things cheaply that the purists insist can only be done with incredibly expensive methods and tools.

this is the part of forums that facebook really killed unfortunately though. it's easier to just ask the same question on facebook a million times instead of pouring over forum resources for it. it's got much further reaching implications than most people seem to think. it encourages the concept that every persons idea is new and unique, and no one's ever come up with a similar idea before. it's impossible to progress on ideas if everyone's convinced that they're the first one's to come up with it!

Now that you mention it, I do have a couple observations regarding the instruments.

I watched a few videos on youtube recently by this guy building a replica of a real tank from photos and the information he knew about the actual tank was mind blowing. When it went into service, when it was refitted, when it was destroyed in combat. He also cut and filled all the weld detail because it wasn't "scale enough" and made his own weld beads by hand and bolt heads. After watching about 2 hours worth of his videos I had decided I had enough internet for the day

I know a fellow from another forum who used to do scratch builds for the model companies. They would take his apart and use the pieces to make the masters for molds. He also built models to review them for model magazines. He once posted a photo of some of the "to be finished" models in his attic. Super nice guy, very knowledgeable on many subjects but a stickler for details.

Sweet. The rest of the stuff I ordered for these two finally arrived in the mail.

Not sure if I will be using the Work CR2P on the R34 or not. I intended to use it on the EVO. The R32 will be using the Nismo wheels that I did not use on the first R32.

These two won't be built until I finish the rest of my stash. LOL.

That is a pile of aftermarket! But you still won't spring for an airbrush!?

Those sets will rock the models.

lol. Money isn't the issue. No good place to store it, plus I'm lazy to find the right mixture to thin paints, and cleaning up. I do like Barbeto Rex's cleaning method, seems quick and easy. I've been watching his channel on YT. I've been tempted to get on several times

Mixing is a sort of "that looks fine" science and clean up takes about 5 minutes as long as you do it right away when done. You probably take longer cleaning brushes than the airbrush would take.

All masked up and ready for the first coat of paint.
This is my first time using the special masking material that came pre printed with the kit. Even though I had to cut out each section it still took me a tiny fraction of the time that it would with strips of masking tape.

Yup, creating masking templates is a real time consumer!

Can't remember if I posted this, but yeah, too late (once again) to get an air brush system. Lol. These are primer, color coats, and clear coats for the EVO, and those R34 and R32.
