Truthfully, I'd drive the value right out of it, and laugh all the way. I mean otherwise, what's the point of owning it?

If I wasn't going to do that then I would just sell it, or donate to some museum somewhere.

i would sell it. that's a mobile investment, it's no longer accurately a car anymore.

i mean, it would be a ton of fun for me to put offroad tires on it, underglow, and then enter it in the gambler 500, but if even 1 picture of that surfaced with me doing it, mopar facebook groups would pool resources for a hit squad, and i've dealt enough with the cult-of-mopar to know the only good a car like that is anymore is to remove lots of funds from other cultist's wallets.

Absolutely! I'm sure folks sported whatever they could afford, just like nowadays.

I'm ashamed to admit that I still need to watch that film.

That said, unless you are in the business of hauling lumber, drywall, loads to the dump, firewood, etc. etc. etc. Then there are several options available that in the long run are probably cheaper and easier than trading in the car for something bigger. Building supply stores usually deliver for a reasonable price. If you have a big project you can do a bit of planning and rent a truck. There could be friends or family or even small companies that will do deliveries or haul junk away.

By the time you trade/sell your car, pay for something bigger (it has to be a lot bigger to make a difference and then take the hit on your daily driving fuel costs you could have paid for a pile of deliveries!

I use the company truck about 20 times a year for things that it would be foolish to even attempt in the 86 but I would not want to pay the operating costs that it would rack up if a year round DD.
Yeah I keep an old station wagon around for towing my sailboat and home depot runs...

It's not nearly as much fun as your BRZ.

I see people going orgasmic over these sorts of things all the time. In the early 70s I had a '70 Chevelle SS396. For the time it was a neat car. However, it did NOTHING as well as a modern performance coupe or sedan. NOTHING that is, but soak up my maintenance budget. It was much better at doing that.

We are indeed living in the good old days.

In line at the dump. It amazes me how many people can’t figure out how to pull forward when the car ahead of them pulls forward. Humanity is doomed.

Yep, I keep my son-in-law around because he has a pickup truck and has muscles and isn't afraid of getting on my roof -

With ya. I do, however, have my own pickup truck. No roof stuff for this old man.
