Oh boy....stimulus burned a hole in my pocket. Buddy Club carbon wheel and TRD interior pieces on the way - not to mention fender garnishes and carbon trims. The bank is going to love their new car

Used some Permatex Copper RTV to try and plug a stubborn exhaust leak at the midpipe-to-muffler flange.

Gotta love the consistency in their instructions:
-packaging: hand-tighten until it oozes, leave to dry 1h, torque down to spec
-website: torque to spec immediately, do no let it ooze out

I chose the first option with 3h drying before torquing, and some still came out during the final 1/4 turn...

So technically I didn't do it, but the dealer finished the install of the TRD parts I'd purchased with my 86 GT. 17" wheels, performance exhaust and sway bars were installed two weeks ago. Yesterday was the springs. At least for the moment she's complete. Debating whether to get the cold air intake installed, but that will probably wait 6-12 months. New tired will wait until the no-seasons they gave her wear out, most likely.

Love the rumble of the exhaust - just loud enough that it's notable, not so loud as to make it unbearable. And the springs & sway bars definitely improved her handling (not that it was bad, but it is even better now). Plenty fast enough for me and perfect for the curvy roads around Pittsburgh.

These look to be the same wheels as used on the FR-S Release Series 2. If so I hope Toyota have fixed the issue with the finish clear coat peeling off over time.
I have a set with bad finish I use for my winters. (Not that the car has ever seen bad weather.) Thinking I'll have them re painted in black metal flake to match the paint on the tS when I get around to buying new rubber.

AFAIK Toyota did not fix the issue with the RS2.0 black wheels. The peeling is due to them using physical vapor deposit to attain the black mirror finish. From what I've read, this is not a durable finish and also used in jewelry that have flaking issues as well.

Your best bet would be to get the same wheels in gunmetal finish wish does not have any peeling issues, is also forged and weighs the same, and cheaper to boot. However, I'm not sure its availability outside of usa because i know you can't get them through a canadian dealership

Part number ptr2018160bk for the rs2.0 mirror black one with peeling issues
ptr2018160gr for the gunmetal forged ones offered as an addon upon vehicle purchase in the USA
