Any particular brand of Tranny fluid out there that people see does better in our cars? I'm getting the clutch/flywheel changed and need to pick some up.

Otherwise just normal wear items like tires, batteries, brake pads, oil, gas, that sort of thing.
Another Major problem I have is the driver's side seat belt retractor is worn out.

Time for a trade-in?

Throw the whole car out, dealer doesn't want it. Completely unusable according to some in this thread.

I'm at 78,000 and I hope it holds on for at least another 4,000. I just checked KBB and the value of it in "fair condition" rose to $11K from $8.5K from about a year ago. Like holy shit, prices are going up. I guess with COVID rates dropping and stimulus money people are buying them up. Now I need the GR86 to hurry up and come out.

are you really implying that your car might not last to 82,000 miles?!? what are you doing to it?

Yes. Exactly right. It drives good and gives me no trouble, but I actually baby it most of the time now because im sort of scared that the engine is just one rotation from grenading. I even change the oil at 3,500 miles and I still worry about rod bearings. I used to love driving back roads but now I hardly take it anywhere but the store. I need to get rid of it which is why I'll likely be an early adopter of gen 2. I am being totally irrational, I know. I just don't like high milage cars I guess.

dealers don't consider it high mileage until it crosses the 100k mile threshold. but it should realistically run into the 200k range as long as proper maintenance is done.

At least you know you are being irrational, but your car isn't even close to "high mileage". I've bought cars with more miles on them than yours has on it and driven them another 100,000+ miles.

My '13 FRS has 180,000+ miles and has never been in the shop except for standard maintenance.

My last two daily drivers were north of 250,000 miles when I replaced them.

My wife's '05 Mustang (bought new) has 160,000 trouble free miles on it.

My '04 Suburban was purchased in 2012 with 89,000 miles on it, and now has about 170K on it. Besides a wacky electrical problem last year it has been trouble free. (I fixed it by unplugging the heated seats I never use).

My son owns a '03 Honda Accord we bought for him used when he was in High School (2010) he still drives every day and has over 220,000 miles on it. It had a transmission replacement (common for that year) but that is the only major repair.

The only thing worse for a car than driving it, is not driving it enough. Get out and enjoy your car!
