Anyone seeing a therapist?

Thinking about speaking with someone about some old developmental stuff. Not sure if there is value there. But I figure we source car parts a lot so it makes sense to ask how to find a good counselor?

Is there a google or Yelp for it?

Interesting question. Might get more action in the regional sub-forum. Other than getting a referral from my GP, I'd have no idea.

Some insurance companies have a provider finder page on their customer portal website. Typically mental health providers are on there as well. Check your insurance to see if they have anything like that. Not sure if they are considered specialists where you need a referral, but I doubt it.

Been in therapy for the past 7 years.

Do it, but be sure your loved ones are ready for rough times as you do your work. You may not be able to be there for them emotionally and you'll need 230% of their support and unwavering trust/respect.

You should find someone who is close by. Once this Covid shit is managed, in person sessions are a must

In Australia there was some kerfuffle about insurance companies refusing to pay for loss of income due to mental unwellness. From memory they (the insurance companies) were claiming there was a undislosed pre-existing medical condition.

Had a few sessions that started pre-pandemic, fell off in September, spoke with three or four different doctors about it over the past year and a half, haven't found 'the one' yet, started anti-depressants a year ago, one of the best decisions I've ever made. Group class about managing depression/anxiety was shockingly helpful, I thought I'd hate sharing with a group but it works. Good luck, it's hard, you have to put in work, be easy on yourself. I went through my megacorp insurance company, gp gave me a little test, ticked enough boxes where the red flags went up and got a referral.

Sounds downright American.

Am I seeing a therapist? No, but I probably should be -

Seriously, I suggest to consult with your primary care physician and ask for a referral.

Have definitely thought about doing this.

I've had anxiety/depression-like issues off and on at times, but the past year especially with everything going on has just exacerbated it all.

May check in with my own megacorp insurance company in the next month or two and see.

Do it, we probably have the same megacorp, schedule the online consult with physician, ask for the depression anxiety assessment, be clear it's not just pandemic related and talk about past episodes. Godspeed.

They're impacted, it's been a rough year, but hopefully they can help.

[QUOTE=FR-S2GT86;3412856]Scientologists

Some of you may know I can be a bit/ a lot of a pedant at times.

After a few drinks (I wasn't totalled, just a little pissed) I did a Scientology questionnaire to find out where my deficiencies lay.

I was taking issue with many of the questions. That is, I thought many of the questions were poorly written, often requiring a yes/no, either/or answer when my answer was a shade of grey. I was eventually told they didn't write the questions and I left feeling disappointed that they couldn't rise to the challenge of dealing with me.

If you can think enough for yourself to question them, they don't want to deal with you and won't want you in their cult........er.........religion anyways.

But you're really not missing out on anything.
