Earplugs Recommendation Needed
Hello, I have a hearing condition called hyperacusis and I've been looking for the best earplugs I can get. I avoid going out this time because I am a bit of a paranoid when it comes to getting COVID19. So... I just want to know if anyone here tried buying from this website? They are called Big Ear and they offer home service for molding your ears for custom hearing protection and then they'll mail the product within a few weeks. They also do have instructions for DIY molding where they'll send a molding kit then you'll mold your ears and send back the kit with the molds. Some of their products are really intriguing and of course, I'd love to know if anyone here tried their products yet.
They look like gum, I know. Any other recommendation? |

I use the cheap foam ones from the hardware store when I shoot and drive my Lotus. Work fine.

i've seen something similar with In Ear Monitors for musicians. some of them use a UV curing method. it seems inconsistent from most of the reviews. for 'typical' ears, it seems everything just works, but people with different features tend to have issues with getting the fit correct, and getting everything formed in the right way.
personally, i tend to prefer ear plugs like this for when i need them. i find they fit easy with less fuss, and tend to fit more consistent in every use. https://smile.amazon.com/Luiswell-Ca...449307&sr=8-39

These are the only types of earplugs that have ever worked for me.
All others don't stay in. This style, not brand necessarily. https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Defe...MN0C9XEVGSJHRJ |

I have two pairs I bought years ago I like, but can't seem to find now.
They look similar to foam disposable ear plugs, but they're made of a silicone like rubber and have a pin in the center which moves back and forth. You push the pin in to seat the plug in. I found them to be quite comfortable for hours at a time. I use them when I go to the shooting range. |

This company makes great stuff...
https://www.etymotic.com/consumer/he...rotection.html I've used the two lower end versions.. the EtyPlugs and the ER20XS models. Both are comfortable, and the ER20XS is the only earplug I've ever been able to wear AND perform as a musician as it doesn't make things sound ultra muffled and unnatural... just much softer.

At $10-13 a set you can buy multiple at different colors so it’s easier to tell them apart for different uses. Radians CEP001-O CEP001-0 Custom Molded Earplugs, Orange https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002KHNB8Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2NXZTPGC4JJR21RB73FY?p sc=1 Edit: when I’m at a race weekend and staying in the paddock for multiple days, the constant sound of the race cars will grain on me so I will often put in the ones that I might sleep in and leave them in because the background racing noise is lowered but I can still converse with people.

Also, if you’re an iphone user, while you need to speak on the phone or listen to music the Airpod Pros noise cancellation is absolutely fantastic. Won't last all day, but very good for when you need to be on the phone etc.
