Looks like a fantastic piece of land.

It won't be exactly a tree house... but I am certainly going work with the land and have a lot of outdoor spaces, deck, patio, greenhouse, gazebo, walking bridge, shed, firepit, wood drying rack, some (maybe all eventually) things of that nature. I'll probably plant more trees than I takedown though. (with the exception of where the house sits) Still have to sell my rental property, get a construction loan, talk to a builder... and my tennant is under contract until April. So it's going a process. Might go for a hike a dream a bit though next weekend with my Fiancée and the rents.

This is one little piece that is left. The first photo is the entrance to what's left of my youthful play area taken in 2009. The good old swimming hole is to the left.
The second photo shows the Tooley's Mill parkette. They are building big dollar condos on the ridge to right over looking the creek valley.
The third photo is of the ol' swimin' hole from back in the late 60's.
Here's a 2 minute Youtube video so you can get sense of the area. It starts off looking at what's left of the ol' swimin' hole.

Since you are starting from scratch you might look at a SIP house. I put one up on the bluff on the east coast of lake Michigan. Evan with the winter storms from the west my heating bill seldom is over $30.
Laser cut in Canada and assembled on site. I even have a basement with SIP walls and with foam under the floor it stays warm.

So my mailbox keyhole is jammed/broken or something now because my key only goes about 15% of the way in. The key works (goes in, doesn't unlock obviously) in my apartment's neighbors' key holes so I don't think it's the key itself.

Since it's a USPS managed street level box I have to contact USPS. All the relevant links I can find on the USPS site are broken, lol.

So I'm going to try giving my local USPS branch a call to see if they can put in a repair order. But the last time something similar happened due to vandalism/attempted theft, they never helped over the phone and I had to go all the way to the branch in person to sign a paper requesting repair.

Fun stuff.

Indeed! Strange mix of emotions come out of those memories. I took it all for granted but also saw enough city life to appreciate the freedom of roaming the woods unsupervised. Wonderful pics. Thanks for sharing!

Nothing beats a rope swing out in the woods!!! Until you are old enough to notice the thousands of carpenter ants and no longer trust a 2x4 to swing you over a 15' drop

You might consider replacing it yourself. The common locks only cost about $8. at any hardware store.

Can't though. This whole cluster box (their name for it) is owned by USPS, so Federal property.

Dear xfinity,

Why you gotta make cancelation so complicated. Canceling power & gas was online and took few secs. You? You demand calling you. You suppose to call in few mins and what happened? Haven't receive a call

Up in these parts, the "cluster set of boxes" is owned by the homeowners. We had to buy the set of boxes and are responsible for maintaining them.

Easy answer. People only cancel power and gas when moving for the most part. Most people are cancelling Xfinity to switch providers. They need an opportunity to try and retain you.
