Remember that scene from Ted where he has the interview and insults the manager and then in turn, gets hired and is like, "shit." So that kinda happened to me today.

Army recruiter contacted me yesterday who I spoke to last year when I was still considering rejoining. At the time she said they weren't taking anyone prior service and blah, blah, blah. Air Force gave me the stiff and I decided that ship had sailed and began pursuing my further education. Yesterday they asked if I was still interested, and jokingly I said, "only if my DD-214 allows it." After looking into the reentry codes and meeting with me about my separation papers, they said I'm eligible as long as I get a Dr. note. Shit.

Younger me always wanted to join the Air Force. Younger me walks into the Air Force office and the recruiter was on the phone and he basically just kept talking on the phone and just gave a card and told me to come back later. I walk into the Army N.G office in my college campus and I walk out with an appointment to MEPS the next week. I basically was held hostage at MEPS because I was "Expected to Enlist". So, I F-Up big time and enlist my happy butt in the Army. A week later the A.F recruiter calls me, and asks if I'm still interested, I tell me of what I just did, he kinda chuckles and says "Well, good luck". I get out next month and I might reconsider joining, but this time with the A.F National Guard, I just gotta convince myself and the wife about doing it.



Do I 100% regret it, no. I had a good mentor, and a great team. Learned how to lead others and work as a team. But man, the green weenie is a real thing.

They mentioned in passing about doing the same thing I did before (infantry) to which I said hell no. So once I can get med clearance, I'm going to see what I can do as an officer and see if there's options with my particular set of skills the Army can use. If not, then I'll finish grad school. If so, nice, easy money!

It's a pyramid scheme driven by a mob who's primary goal is to stick it to people they don't like by yelling really loud and stomping their feet. There is no endgame, they just want you to know they are angry.

Sounds like some other groups I know of.

I just heard about this yesterday from a buddy of mine that got in on it early. He follows the market as a hobby and does some buying and selling every now and then.

At work we had a pretty massive failure yesterday but fortunately caught it early enough to avoid catastrophe.

Now we're working on a retro doc type thing to go over every bit of what failed, why it failed, what can we can we do to prevent it, etc.

I don't mind doing a retro doc, but it's not that fun when it's seemingly obvious stuff that wasn't considered but should have been in the past.

In some ways it's super annoying and I don't blame myself because it all stemmed from before I joined, but on the other hand it's a pretty typical engineering problem. Stuff gets under-engineered/under-designed all the time and people don't stop to think "well what if this breaks and this is all we have, we should know what to do with the very basic data we have left to get it back to a usable state."

Anywho.
