Electric Power Steering Parts

Does anybody know if the BRZs power steering components are the same as those that the FRS and gt86 use? Im looking for a power steering column, i have a BRZ just wondering if I could get the part out of a FRS.

you shouldn’t have a problem between 86/FRS and BRZ. The inner shaft is different between key ignition and push start cars though.

They are the same. Just curious, why you are replacing it?

Thank you. And as of why I am replacing it, the steering on my car got really heavy and stiff. Ive checked ball joints, tie rods, suspension, fuses, the module, rack and pinion and everything looked good. Im not sure what else it could be...

There is a torque sensor in there that detects your inputs so it knows how much assist to give. I could see that causing issues if it was bad. There is also a calibration process you can go through in Techstream that may help.

Search Amazon for "Techstream" and you will find a bunch of cables that work with Techstream. I got one for $18 but it looks like the average price right now is about $30. If you aren't familiar with Techstream it is the official Toyota software used at the dealership. It does diagnostics, pairs keys, key fobs, changes dealer settings like the stupid seatbelt warning, DRL toggle, ect. It will also do real time data logging with a very high sample rate. It will works on the FRS/86/BRZ.
