I finished the cat box. It isn’t perfect but a big improvement so that’s all that matters.

Not mine. This photo is of the sister-in-law’s brood. She just got her newest member, Frankie, an 11 week old French Bulldog/Boston Terrier cross. He’s with his new buddy Levi, a champion bred Dogue de Bordeaux as Rain, a Cardigan Welsh Corgi scratches with indifference.

$200 (most of which was the countertop) and a few days of work and here is my take on the cat litter counter. Still needs some touch up and a bigger interior litterbox.

My cat woke me up at dawn by carrying a toy ball up the stairs, opening the bedroom door, dropping the ball on the bed, holding his face up to my ear, and meowing until I acknowledged him.

My basset has no objective reason to bark as loud as possible in my face while I’m sleeping other than to be a jerk.

One of our two sister/sibling cats. They’re around seven or eight years old. We got them from a Craigslist litter shortly after moving into our home. I thought we were just getting one kitten. My wife picked the brownish tabby and said, “now you pick one”, and my heart went out to the sickly little tuxedo. She was the runt and had a small nosebleed. The woman giving them away wasn’t sure she would make it. Of course we got them all the shots and meds they needed. This poor little girl almost lost each eye on two separate occasions. The meds and treatments were terribly expensive but they are family. They have a better health plan than we do. She’s extremely vocal and she loves to be played with. She will begin purring as soon as you look like you’re about to pet her or play with her.

You may recall I posted about the wife's two little dogs (well after the loss of one) last August. Here's that post:
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...&postcount=851

Well, she's been dropping hints about getting another dog since before Thanksgiving, (the Canadian one) which I've been ignoring. Even had a couple lined up and I said NO! The old boy will be 15 this April and we know he won't see 16. So, at some point you have to say: No more pets!
(Or so I thought...)
Oh, she was sneaky and I fell for it. She asked about my favourite breeds and I told her all of them. However my very first dog was a dark red Spaniel. In fact it was the neighbours dog who adopted me when I was born. I might have mentioned that we'd never had a spaniel in almost 47 years of marriage.
This past Sunday I drove her to a kennel west of Ottawa, (about 3 1/2 hours in good weather) in a snow storm to get her newest dog. I had to pick it from the litter and I had to name it. Turns out she bought her for me as an early Valentine's present.
She's a 3 1/2 month old purebred English Cocker Spaniel named; My Precious Valentine. We call her Precious. (Sorry for the lousy phone photos)
