Yeah, agreed although I thought the sex scene in the tank was gratuitous in the same way I think the sex scenes in a lot of movies are gratuitous. I much preferred it was inferred rather than obvious.

This is the same factory and parts that the original IBM "M" keyboard was made. They have continued the tradition of making them the same way since IBM sold it to LexMark and the ultimately it went independent. I'm thinking about ordering one for work. The BlackWidow is better for gaming, and it has better "nerdy" features like lighting, etc, but for straight typing there's nothing better than an "M" keyboard.

gimicky. never got the fixation with large-travel mechanical switches.
i've always preferred low profile scissor-action keys. much quicker response time with less movement. i don't need the clack sound, i'm playing a game not writing a novel.

The immediate feedback makes it unambiguous as to whether you pressed the switch or not which I find helpful if playing a game requiring rapid precise input (or typing). Also, if you don't know exactly where the switch activates you are always bottoming out your keys and applying more force than you really need to, resulting in increased fatigue.

The IBM-M style keyboard is much better if you are a touch typist and doing office work, but I wouldn't necessarily want it for gaming, although I prefer it over a "mushy" keyboard. I think its just a matter of what you "grew up" with. All through high school, college and my early computer years everything I used had switch keys in it, or the feel of an M key.

All this talk about keyboards. My favorite style keyboard is membrane; hear me out.
I'm a hardcore dedicated hunt and peck typist. I type at about 115+WPM using only my index fingers for normal keys, thumbs hit the spacebar and pinky / ring finger hit auxiliary modifier keys like shift or control. Bottoming out the key and slamming them so I know they're down is what makes me want to type, I love it. I think it also has to do with having played piano for a while. I've tried touch typing / home row, can't stand it. I've found that the best keyboard for my typing style is the Logitech G15. With those keyboards long gone ( I had a couple, space bar and a few other keys stopped functioning) I have fallen to the Razer Cynosa. It works well enough, just has terrible media controls and the shift key sticks frequently. This keyboard is the closest I've gotten to something livable for my typing style. Are there any other dedicated hunt and peck typists? Also worth noting; I've been typing like this since high school and do a lot of typing; I have never experienced any sort of typing fatigue or wrist trouble.

Same, I bottom out my keys most of the time. Also don't get the fatigue comment. Granted I don't type books for a living. |

Think of it as bottoming out your suspension on every dip in the road. That's basically what you are doing to your fingers.

This is basically the same switch that are in my BlackWidow, but the Razer Green switches have an audible click. Also, by jarring, I'm talking relative pressure on your fingers and joints that likely isn't noticeable in the short term. I can tell the difference over longer sessions, but it is more obvious when you are typing vs gaming.

To clarify.
The K68 i have is my current keyboard. This is the first mechanical keyboard I ever owned. I am bottoming the keys out. I used to have a Razer membrane keyboard (don't remember model) All our work keyboards are membrane. Years of using crappy keyboards that needed firm keystrokes has made me type like this. Also is most likely what I don't get fatigue or really notice or care about bottoming out. |
