I mean, your punching it 5k and over on the street, just to feel slightly spirited. You can crow about changing gears all you like, but I will be extremely happy to see the arse end of that torque curve. |

Sure, you always have the option with an auto, but with the mt, you can’t just push the throttle. You are literally deciding when to shift every single shift. That’s what I mean.

I think it’s a bigger deal for people coming from cars where 2000RPM in top gear pulls hard enough on the interstate to pass a mini van without downshifting. Something just feels odd needing to boy racer pass a mini van at 5000 on the interstate. In the FRS people probably think I’m trying to race making all this noise. For me it had been a while driving anything with less than 6 cylinders. So the combination of switching to E85 and just getting used to a 4 banger again, it’s not a big deal for me anymore. I suspect the most vocal are coming from cars with turbos or more cylinders/displacement. Had I gone from an S2000 to a Twin I’d probably be so happy to have power at 2000RPM that I’d forget all about the dip. |

This is the bottom line. It's not a midrange dip, it's a low-rpm bump. Biggest engine I've ever had was the L24 in the Z. Over-square spinny power has always been my thing. Would love to rock something like a Synergy but stock is fine for me.

I had no idea it would be so controversial. Please accept my humble apologies.

Agreed. As much as I love my FRS, I would welcome more torque with open arms. I think people think I’m trying to “race” them all the time. Nope, just trying to get up to speed. And with so many cars having a lot more torque than the twins, it makes them feel slower than they really are. I’m really looking forward to driving the 2nd gen. I don’t want a torque monster, obviously, I bought an FRS. But decent torque would be nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
