id bet the pilot bearing in the exedy oem/stage 1 kit is fine, thats never a culprit of any trouble, just the TOB's.

I do plan on going boosted soon, and I don't want to replace the clutch twice in a year. So I'd rather do what I can while I'm in there. I don't think a stage 1 clutch is going to be too hard on daily-ing.

TOB question
literally at the same stage right now with parking my car two weeks ago after just getting home and realizing clutch was wonky and most likely a TOB issue given the sound and unusual clutch feel and groaning sound when pedal is in.
at the usual 60k miles on a canadian car that is boosted and always double clutch on downshift so i have heavy use out of my SBD turbo'ed with timing pulled and tweaking with an innovate boost controller and 245 tires in summer on 9" rims. got the exedy stage 1 with a new verus clutch fork to put in with a new snout just in case and bought the newer style white dot TOB from toyota cause heard that the exedy sends you old style NTN bearing but upon unboxing today the stage 1 exedy has an NTN white dot TOB....... gonna still use the verus toyota white dot bearing but seem like exedy has since caught up on pairing the proper bearing since the 2018 change? of course i have zero proof other than the japan part number on the bearing i got with my exedy stage 1 clutch and the white dot. FCR62-45-14G1/L756 NTN 161912 so chime on..... |

I currently have southbend clutch stg2 and i replaced mine with oem TOB instead of what i came with. both oem and southbend bearing looked similar but went with OEM because of hearing failure. so far ok but who knows. i will deal with problem later if it happens to me.
i only put less than 20K on new clutch. |
