Perhaps, but give them a shot nonetheless.

It's hard to be competitive with Tirerack because my cost price is significantly higher than their retail price.

But once you add shipping and the hassle/cost of returning things under warranty, locally supplied parts might be worth the extra $.

Yes, returns is a pain - I agree.

Do you happen to stock Federal 595 RSR's ?

I'm not doing tyres. I just can't offer prices that would be close to what you'd get from your local tyre chain.

My quote from Tirerack for 4 RPF1s was cheaper than I could find in Australia and that included shipping.
Don't forget to add duty which I think is 5%. You also have to pay GST, so another 10%. Add air freight and it's not much different to what you'll pay here.

I agree with 'buy Australian made' but when all the local guy is doing is acting as an import agent why should we throw him a 10%?

Sorry 86D that's not aimed at you btw.

Don't get me wrong, I still buy stuff from OS. But it's always under $1,000 (no duty and GST) and light so shipping is cheap. You get burnt occasionally due to faulty products, but that's the risk you take.

I just did some maths on the 17x8 (since that's the only size Tirerack have):
Tirerack: $1,105.00($1,140 USD) + $55.25 (duty) + $116.03 (GST) = $1,276.28 + delivery (anyone knows what tirerack charge for delivery?)
I can do them for $1,684 to your door.

I know I shouldn't be putting prices outside classifieds section. But I just want to compare local prices vs importing.
