Microsoft announced VR for Flight Simulator will drop before the end of the month, and will be available on Oculus/Vibe not just the HP augmented reality headset! Looking forward to that, although probably not as much as @Captain Snooze was for Cyberpunk.

How goes FliSim? Is it still awe inspiring? What graphics card are you using?

I am calling upon the PC gaming Gods to help me. I was going to purchase an MSI Meg Trident X with the 3080. But my brother suggested I build one. I like the compact PCs so I 'built' one on the System Builder. Could I ask thee to inspect and evaluate my creation?

i would recommend getting a smaller SD drive for the OS, and keep the 1T for everything else, games are big, as is the OS. I would consider upping to 32G of memory as well particularly for gaming. I like the case, have to keep that one in mind. It doesn't have an external disk bay which would have prohibited it on my last build, but probably not on my next. Also, isn't the 3080 pretty much impossible to get right now? I don't follow NVIDIA that closely (I prefer AMD) but seems I recall reading that on Tom's Hardware.

As for memory, I was looking into the HyperX fury 16gb so 2 total for 32gb. However, on PC Part Picker, it wasn't an option. So I didn't know if it would fit. And my brother recommended the ram I chose. Though my current PC only has 16bg ram and is fine.

The two drives is a personal preference, and is probably a nice to have more than a necessity, but adding a 512G drive for the OS gives you twice the space for everything else. That's a common server build strategy as well. On the memory it's probably not that critical for gaming but it's getting there. That's the recommended configuration for Flight Simulator, for example. Easy enough to add later. Check the motherboard specs but it should have slots that could accommodate 32Gb in memory. If the motherboard only has two memory slots, its cheaper to do it now then to go back later since you would have to throw out what you have. If there are four slots, you could add more later with your 8Gb sticks.

Lose the RGB RAM. You aren't gonna see it.
Also recommend using that money saved and upping to 32GB of RAM. The board only allows for a single NVME drive, so I would base it's size on what programs you want to install. I use mine for large programs that do make use of the extra speed, and games that do the same. My OS Drive is 1TB. Game SATA SSD is 2TB. And 2x TB OG Spinny drives. Board also only has 2 more SATA slots, one of which will be disabled when using that M.2 drive. TLDR; Lose RGB RAM for non light up RAM and up it to 2x16GB sticks. Keep 1TB NVME Drive. Get another 1-2TB SATA SSD for other storage. |

Good catches, like I said I didn't look at the board specs. I'd be tempted to upgrade the motherboard if its this limited though.

i'd highly recommend getting a board with 4 memory slots, though a little difficult in the m-itx form factor. makes upgrading later on easier. with windows 7, 8gb was enough. with windows 10 and newer games, even 16gb is getting to be the bare minimum.
i've also had 2 sticks of memory go bad on me and cause random blue screens, so i prefer more and smaller modules. cheaper to replace when they crap out. i also support the idea of an OS drive and a 'game' drive. i'm not all that far off from dadhawk-- i try to keep the OS drive relatively small(i usually run a 128-320gb drive) so i'm not even temped to try to use it as a game drive at any point. forcing me to keep other drives for storage also helps significantly when i butcher the OS drive to the point i need to reload it. all my files stay on the other drives, and i can be up and running again in a few hours instead of weeks trying to figure out which files were lost. good call on the modular power supply. it took way too long for them to start making them! makes wiring much much simpler!

Decided to ditch that ultra slim case for something bigger. Played with the idea of an AMD Ryzen 7 and an Intel i7. Details are below (and yes I did go with the glowing RAM because why not lol).
AMD: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hqVTz7 Intel: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HpW84d Thoughts are appreciated! I ordered the case today. And have the 3080 graphics card coming as a gift for Xmas, so that's not problem now.
