During his car checkout: “Is THAT for DAS?” Today: “Can I use DAS now” I feel for him when he will have to get back into the Williams and realise he will never get his DAS again.

Let’s see if Russel has the race pace to go with the one lap outright speed. Good showing in quali for him.

I might have missed it, had to let the dog out, but was there a "congrats, you're P1" message to him from the garage on the cool down lap?
Happy for VB, he's under pressure and pulled through. Now if his luck holds out, this race is his to lose. George was amazing though and you know that's where press will continue focusing their attention so he's under pressure too. It'll be interesting if he gets a better start than the erratic VB starts and leads the first lap. Should be good tomorrow, viewer ratings will be off the charts. |

“If you'd told me last week I'd be qualifying P2 I wouldn't have believed you!”
George Russell, Mercedes For all who thought George had big shoes to fill he had to downsize them this weekend to fit the cockpit... |

Good job for George,,,, VB should win tomorrow but we'll see, he's been off a bit lately. A good start is key. As a sidebar,,, will Lewis be back next week??

Both Bottas & Russell don’t have exceptional starts so Max must be licking his chops tonight for any opening that could happen. Hope Bottas mojo holds for race day he deserves it. MB asked George if he brings the car in anything 6th place or higher would be exellent. Tried to find info on Lewis condition but seems quite Top Secret! Closest we have is news already 20 hrs old. 'He is not great,' Wolff said.” Whatever that could mean. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...irus-test.html Got this feeling we will only find out later next week if he returns... |

Even if he had 0 symptoms he wouldn't be back for the minimum of 2 weeks anyway.
His season was over once he tested positive. |

Minimum quarantine is 10 days, I also thought it was two weeks but that's just everyone being lazy and rounding up. Since he tested positive on Monday iirc he could be cleared for travel as early as Tuesday evening, and in F1 as long as he shows up by Saturday afternoon he'll race. My conspiracy theory is he worked a backroom deal to fake the illness in order to protest the human rights violations of Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, since he has the championship locked up and most records broken missing 2 races isn't going to negatively affect his career. |

The start...hmm, they're all important and especially tomorrow with such a tight, technical circuit so I won't be surprised to see a Safety Car after a L1 T1 incident mid-pack.
A couple years ago I'd have put money on Mad Max doing something penalty worthy at the start, but he's really matured, sees the big picture, and knows he still has a shot at #2 in the driver's standings. The camera work is impressive there. It showed the car speed and down force at work during the technical sections of practice and quali better than most other circuits but may have been too close to the barriers for race conditions. It also has me looking at those barriers post-Romain and not in a good way. |
