All kinds of lights going off on my dashboard and I don't know why. Too lazy to scan for codes myself, won't buy a multimeter, can't afford to take it to a professional, don't remember what it sounds like... PLEASE HELP!

Just replace the alternator. No other checks required.

I can't see my alternator with the hood/bonnet closed, how am I supposed to tell if it really needs replacing?

Don't need to open the hood. Just take all your keys and fobs and place them on the drivers seat. Need to make sure they are all in one place so no stray signals impact the test. Close both windows and doors and manually lock them both using the door locks. Close them and go to the front of the car. If you hear a beep then the alternator is fine. If not you need to replace it.

Agh, OK. That makes sense and I tested. All seems to be OK with the alternator, and fortunately I could still see my keys so that's good. I do have a broken driver's side window I need to replace now though.

Be patient. It will go eventually. Make sure to leave all accessories on whether you need them or not

You can reduce your weight by 30lbs without an altenator. It cuts down on your range a bit..

Makes sense. My buddy removed the one from his Model 3, runs only off his battery. He drives a lot of miles before the battery goes dead.

Could go further if they would just invest in extension cord updated tech.
