Yes, actually this particular build has a full Subaru AWD chassis and drivetrain:

I almost picked up a Corvair Rampside several years ago. Were too many missing pieces that would be impossible to get to make it a viable project though.
They are really cool when all done. ![]() ![]()

I'd rather drive a minivan than a pickup that's been neutered.

They were actually pretty popular around here in the sixties. A quick look shows there are loads nice restorations for sale with a massive price range from $5K to $60K
They made a van as well. Imagine 9 passengers in this thing with an 80HP and 2 speed powerglide.

Now triple the body and cram 9 people in there! 0 to 60 in 7 hours.

Pickups with such short beds you can barely move a couch with and a mountain bike with the wheels on is out of the question. You can take the whole family and pull a house but you can't move 4 bikes without a $700 rack. On a $50k truck! Short bed = neutered.

The Ram 700 single cab has a 66.6" (!) long bed which, with the tailgate down and gate box, would carry pretty much anything I would use it for. it is a little narrow between the wheels (43") but is wide enough above the wheels to carry plywood (or at least it seems to be with a gate width of 53.5"). My problem with minivans (I've owned two Astros), or even my Suburban, is the gate height. Seems every time I want to haul something in it it's too tall.

Not being able to move bicycles easily is the biggest downside for me. I'm a sales rep and travel with bikes most of the time and I ride often so it's the number one thing that will determine the next new car purchase I make. I have racks, heck I rep two brands of racks, but there are times and places where inside or in the bed would be so much simpler and less exposure to the weather is a good thing so if I was to go for a pickup the bed needs to be 6'6" or over.

I had a neighbor across the street from us growing up that was a huge Corvair guy. He had like 7 of them including the truck, a van, and a wagon. They were pretty cool.
