2020 Base model. I'm that weird, frugal guy who paid 24,2xx for the 86

But you'll pay decent money for Single Malt Scotch and encourage others to do so as well. What an interesting dichotomy (frugal).

Well maybe dichotomy is too strong. I can see distinct parallels between great Single Malt Scotch (esp. Ardbeg ) and these lovely vehicles. Single Malt and the 86/FRS/BRZ are for the well balanced refined palate.

Did you not see the most recent video drop? Best whiskies under a hundred bucks!! My goal in whisky is always to save people money. Unfortunately, that means I've spent more than an STI in whiskies learning and trying tons of different whiskies. Someone has to do the hard work.

Also... no thanks to the ardbeg. I have to draw the line somewhere LOL. I just got in a bit of a back and forth with a couple of their ambassadors on IG... they know what I don't like and yet they still push their peated wares
Do you have a favorite single malt?

Cheers!

No single favorite. Depends on my mood. I'm always impressed with (and usually enjoy) the variety of flavors.

For Islay I have to go with the Ardbeg 10 - (from "Michael Jackson's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch") - 'it first skips sweetly and then turns mean & moody.
Speyside - Balvenie Doublewood
Highland - Glenmorangie 10y

Jackson is SPOT ON about the Ardbeg 10. It's just a tiny bit of sweet before it turns into the devil.

The Balvenie 12 DW is super underrated in my book. Surprisingly good and flavorful especially for the pricepoint. It's entry level in price but not in complexity.

Glenmo10 is a bit boring in my book. Have you tried any of the private editions?

Yes. I just couldn't remember what was my favorite.

We definitely need to get a local meetup featuring our awesome 86/FRS/BRZ's with a few wee dram samplings. -- Trying to stay on topic...... Stupid covid ruining any fun.

Not sure that a combo car meet and whiskey tasting is in anybody's best interests!

It's funny because I uber to DC for whisky events from annapolis. I've never been drunk in my life but I like being able to remove as much risk as possible.

We could always meet and sample swap
