They were bound to get around to it eventually since it actually made sense.
Even though I trust ichi more than clickbait's we will not know officially what is in there until tomorrow.

Haha, more than half of them are still continuing to either claim a turbo is coming or that it is still very likely. Till tomorrow!

The fun part is where one "journalist" from a site says it will certainly be the NA 2.4 at 217hp and another one from the same site says the turbo 2.4 with up to 300hp! Do they not read their own site?

They're not crippled or not enthusiasts, they just tend to put speed over the rest of the experience. :P

I guess they don't care. It'll just attract whoever wants to hear what they want to hear. The other side of the story won't be noticed, or will be ignored.

Real question is whether the AT is a CVT like the rest of the Subaru lineup...

I bet it will be a CVT actually.

That'll suck.
CVT's suck.

They completely suck the life out of a car. Totally wrong transmission choice for this car.

If it's a CVT, that would be a deal killer since an AT is a given to keep happiness in the household, which everyone knows is the key to life....

This. A lot of info I have is legit, but it’s not all the info I get is the truth. I, myself havent seen the next gen in person yet. Plus I haven’t heard/read it from Subaru officially. BUT I def have more info than 99% of so call “auto” blogs/sites/journalists. Worse part is, cuz I have those info, I cannot spill a lot of info until officially announced or spill here & there without saying depth info.

Depends on which CVT they use. My wife's 17 Impreza had the latest gen CVT in it and it wasn't bad at all. They set it up so that you got none of that rubber band, weird "shifts", noisy at all speeds crap that I associated with CVTs. It had nice distinct shift points and whether using the paddles or just in auto you could not really even tell it wasn't a performance level AT. When she traded it for an 18 Outback I expected the same thing. Little did I know they were still using the older gen CVT in those and it performs exactly like the CVTs I remembered and hated.
So, if they use the new one and tweak it a bit more it will not be as bad as people would expect. I would even go so far as to say it could be every bit as good as the current AT.

My experiences with CVT is the previous gen Corolla (2014 model rental i drove for about a month) and a 2015 Honda Fit.

They were fine, they werent amazing, but they were fine. I think the Corolla had fake 'shifts' which felt a little wierd because the car didnt react at all to those fake shifts and it didnt simulate a real shift all that well.
The Honda was typical CVT, no shifts, stays at redline as you accelerate, makes the CVT drone that you cant get away from (i think its more just high RPM constant buzzing than drone)

I didnt mind them honestly, but they were pretty lifeless.

Even the WRX comes with a CVT as the automatic option. Yes, it would be disappointing, but not surprising to me.

I REALLY hate the fake shift points/fixed ratios manufacturers put into CVTs. If you are going to have a CVT in your car, just make it act like a CVT and deal with it. Use the benefits and don't be ashamed it's a CVT. Have a sport mode that just keeps the engine at best power all the time, and an eco mode that keeps it at most efficient all the time.
