One of them broke 2 teeth and I only did like 3 spot welds before I realized it was way more work than it was worth. So I just too a bigger "normal" drill bit and started going to town. I've done about half the spot welds this way and it's way easier than the stupid spot weld removal bit. Seems like a gimmick to me, or maybe $20 wasn't enough to justify a quality product. Who knows... I'll try to take more pics today.
You can take a small drill bit and drill the center of the spot weld to make a indent to locate the harbor freight spot weld cutter whick keeps it on target. They also seem to last longer at lower rpms.

Seriously, either nobody here makes real power, or my car is broken because I can't put ANY power to the ground. 275/40r17 NT555R and lexus 3.73 i'm ripping apart 5th gear when rolling into boost. I'm on LOW boost, I don't know what else to do... I hate hate hate widebody or flares so i'm kind of annoyed. I can't get any clean hits for my tuner above 20psi. Please give suggestions from real experience only, with THIS chassis only. Much appreciated <3

I mentioned traction on a Facebook group and someone commented that the NT555s were garbage. They had them on a mustang and had no grip. I have them on my rear right now in a 255 and yeah, no traction. I thought I was upgrading from my 225 Sport Comp 2s but I honestly didn't notice a difference. Still no traction. And I'm not boosted. I do have sick stock diff though. So I guess the take away is to try different tires. Lemme know what you come up with cuz I want a turbo too

My buddy is running a 255 R888r on his is300 making more power than me. Granted he's heavier, but same rear end and he hooks up great. All the reviews I read or saw (youtube) online rate the NT555R and R888r pretty close. Which is why I purchased them, and they feel super soft when i dig my nail into them, but they seem to be hot garbage. I would buy the R888r this instant if I knew they would be drastically better. Spinning in 5th on low boost is just fucking frustrating ya know. I wanna run 30+ psi but at this rate it seems impossible.

I would expect the r888r to be a lot stickier just cuz it's an R compound. All I know is my experience with the nt555 hasn't been great. And apparently some others have had issues too. Definitely sounds like a gamble to try to fix it but I don't see much choice unless you know someone you can swap wheels with for testing

The NT555R is actually an R compound tire though. It's a street drag radial according to their website.

It's like $200-250 locally for oem GT86 wheels and decent tires. Maybe the same for you... just to keep on the car during cold weather. Thats what I do, I throw on some stockies until its warmer out

I just sold my stock wheels. I wasn't planning on the cold itself being an issue. Well, they didn't grip worth a shit anyways... I suppose freezing can't make them any worse

Ultimately I want a new set of wheels with really nice rubber and I'll put straight up winter tires on these wheels so I can drive when it's cold, but not snowy. I don't want that road salt bullshit all over my car

Obviously weight is a big factor for traction. I saw a video on The Racing Channel where a guy in a 2JZ S10 pickup, or something small, with like 800-1000hp has three 100lb sand bags in his bed for added traction. Obviously this isn't ideal or something I am suggesting.

People always act like driving a fast car fast is easier than driving a slow car fast, but when traction is limited at even partial throttle, it means it takes a lot more skill to transition on power instead of just going flat footed all the time.

Things you can do to gain traction besides controlling your right foot better, and things you can do to gain grip, so you can put down more power are the following:

--Suspension...any wheel hop, alignment issue or anything like that should be sorted. I don't know what your suspension setup is like or what you have done.

--Weight distribution...move some weight to the rear like a remote battery or get the car corner balanced or reduce weight up front or whatever.

--Remove slop...I don't know if bushings will make it worse or better, but I have placed bushings on the rear, and it helped.

--Remove air from the tires...What psi are you running?

--Downforce...Maybe consider a wing and diffuser for traction at speed.

--Move somewhere warmer with nicer roads...Just kidding.

All my bushings and suspension is tight. Rear diff has harder bushings, I don't wheel hop at all when it spins its pretty controlled and smooth. Tire pressure is around 26 in the rear 30 in the front. Might drop fronts to 28 and try to soften up the front rebound. I think in general I may need better coilovers, i'm running some cheap tein coils right now.

Might get a 15" wheel for the rear so I can run more sidewall. 40 on the nt555r is pretty stiff.

I got the car ceramic coated last month and now it's in storage. It's a 5 year coating, i'm not too familiar with how that works but I was told by some friends that it's a good idea to preserve the paint.

Here is a walk around video of the day I picked it up, after ceramic coat was complete which was less than 2 weeks ago.
