What’s your opinion on that dealer ?

Thanks

i know everyones saying "oh i need to support subaru and toyota, buying used doesnt help out the industry" i hear you, i wish i could drop money on a new car. Trust me, i really wish i had more money haha.

i get that youre supporting the industry, but when you lay it out in front of me, what do you expect me to take, a boosted one for 15, or a stock one with "we appreciate you" dealer flyers for 30.

its just different priorities really, your decision is right for your priorities (no hastle, keep it for a long time, clean slate), and my decision is right for my priorities (save a ton of money buying used and already modded, mod more with money i saved)

i dont really agree with the "hidden surprises" argument. if im going to put new lower control arms and coils on the car, i dont care if its brand new, or 7 years old, im going to put an impact on the nut, a wrench on the bolt, and blast it off then put the new arm on and torque. doesnt matter if the nut is new or not, its coming off, then going back on. your nut is still silver, mine is slightly brown by now, thats just not worth 15 grand to me. this is also why i always rec people to buy performance parts used too. last week i bought usdm toms local pickup for $260, and i wish i could explain that they are a spitting image of new one from ebay, no hidden surprises. i bought 5k mile used coils from this forum, bought and sold used rce yellows for 150 shipped... sold my 5k mile old enkei with tires on here for 1000 (1800 new)...

i can totally understand your side of the opinion and im not trying to change your mind, i just wanted to explain why im on my side of it because i feel like you guys think im "wrong"

Dont get fooled into paying 15k$ more for a new one with a warranty, if the engine goes a dealership is not going to help you one way or another, theyll blame it on you.

There are some great examples in the cars for sale section on here. Theres even one for 30k$ that was build for street/track by probably the most established vendor for the platform on here: counterspace garage. Why someone would spend 30k for a bone stock 86 when you can get the literal exact same car for 12k is beyond me.

You weren't "wrong" in your original statement but you clearly said you did not understand why people bought new. There are very valid reasons to buy new. I for one tried to explain those reasons. I don't know how to break it to YOU but there is a massive difference between a new car and a 7 year old one no matter how many miles are on it. Nobody was condemning you for buying used in fact the more that buy used the more our new ones are worth when we go to sell them!

You are now falling into the same trap with the parts. Where do used ones come from? How do you think that "everybody" can buy used?

There is nothing at all wrong with buying used but you should be thanking the people buying new not implying that they are some sort of goof for paying more.

You have had good luck buying used but that does not mean that is always the case. There is a lot of complete trash out there and someday you will get some of it. Many people buy new because they have already had their turn at getting the junk so know the risks and do not want to accept them. A car or complex part is more than a simple rust glazed nut so you are oversimplifying what can go wrong to rationalize your point.

Did you buy your body kit used? How about the tires?

Unless my budget was 15k or under I would wait to see the new one first. I also wouldn't buy a used car with forced induction unless it was extremely low miles and I could look it over thoroughly.

yep. this is exactly the case. when i was in high school with nothing else to do, tinkering with the cars problems was just part of the deal, and if it didn't start the next morning, NBD, everyone would offer a ride. now i have at best, an hour to tinker on any given day anymore. and everyone expects that my vehicles are reliable enough to get me to/from anywhere every day. but part of the reason that i maintain 2 vehicles for myself is specifically from the lessons i learned buying used. sometimes stuff just doesn't work.

i just don't have the time anymore to learn on the side of the road after buying that the car had kissed a curb with the previous owner, and instead of replacing everything, they beat and fatigued the metal control arms back into position, and used softer-grade hardware to bolt it back together, while a buddy eyeballed the alignment..

maybe your luck is just better than mine. i've just had enough of playing the lottery, hoping for a winner, and getting screwed on the outcome.

Honestly wasn't impressed by the lack of upfront notice in the ad that the car was modded. I could tell as soon as I got there (I am local so it's not as big a deal) but that wasn't a good sign - you'd want the dealer to be as upfront as possible with these things.

We ultimately bought at Subaru of Brampton, and I felt they were more on the level with us.

# 2 - 2019 RAIU edition lightly used (love the colour)
# 3 - The cheapest used one I can find and dump some cas in on maintenance and mods.

Would love to know your thoughts

Get a PP or TS if you plan to track it. Otherwise get one that might hold its value the best.

Ah unfortunately I live pretty far from them (an hour's drive) - not sure if you'd be able to find a more local (Brampton area) member who can help you out!
