That would be so cool. I still don’t know why Toyota didn’t try to team up with Mazda for the ND and share the MX-5 platform. At pretty low development cost Toyota could have had an S-FR coupe and Mazda would have the roadster variants. Win win.
The other thing I’d love to see is a new MR2. But not some big, crazy C8 expensive thing, but a Lotus Elise sized one with a peppy and reliable 4 pot engine to keep costs down, like the originals. In the spirit of platform sharing, Toyota should team up with Lotus to reuse the Elise platform. Heck, Lotus have already shown how awesome Toyota engines can be in a proper MR car. Of course, neither will happen.

That Jalop photoshop worries me. As someone else said, the new headlight design makes it look a little Porsche SUV-ish. That shape can work on a Cayman, because of the much lower and flatter bonnet thanks to the mid-engine. But even with a boxer 4, the BRZ needs a higher bonnet. We shall see in a couple of weeks I guess. Maybe it will work.
I’m mostly concerned with the engine they’ll use, how it delivers power, and weight. If it stays similar weight and adds at least a modest power and torque bump, it hasn’t gone backwards. Oh, and I really hope they didn’t stick an iPad to the dash for infotainment. That trend is already fading as makers work to integrate their screens more organically and aesthetically. Please, no giant ugly tablet sticking out like dog’s balls. This gen has to look fresh and modern for another 7-8 years. |

Banning of combustion engine cars in many countries + hard emission target + low volume sells + current lineup-> 86, supra, GR Yaris.
Still can we expect one more sports car from Toyota? |

We're well aware of the new subaru global platform. and it has been making its way into various cars, once they get redesigned. (Just like Toyota and its TNGA platform) With that said there has been NO indication that the new 86/BRZ is using the new global platforms other than baseless guessing, speculation and wishful thinking. If its a full redesign then yeah it makes sense to plunk it there. But it sounds like its just a heavy refresh (like the 2021 Lexus IS) so its still possibly using an updated version of its current platform. All will be (or should be) revealed on the 18th. |

I want real confirmation not "you can tell if you know". Until it is confirmed it is still just more clickbait fodder. Sorry that is just the way I see things.

The camo is messing with people's depth perception exactly as it is deigned to do so there will be all sorts of theories on the size and actual shape.

I realize that you may have seen this thing in person, but dimensions can be manipulated with lenses and photoshop. Manufactures do this often by making cars look wider and lower or whatever.
Are you saying this is render, or are you saying what I am saying above, that the dimensions look off because of lens perspective or photoshopping?
