We still have the streaming service, and there are still movies you can only find on the DVD service (some aren't streaming anywhere) but it was time to let it go.

The fact that Netflix has been around for over 20 years was one more thing I didn't need today to remind me that I'm old. Thanks for that.

I used to have the DVD sub as well, but cancelled it a few years ago. Almost renewed it earlier this year because I really wanted to watch Willow for some reason.

But all that story really does is make me reminisce about the days of my brother and I riding our bikes to the neighborhood Blockbuster and trying to find movies and video games to rent.

There's no real experience like it anymore.

This is why we kept it. As we started watching some entire TV series we kept running into ones that not all the episodes were streaming, or that were only available if you subscribed to a particular service we didn't already have.

But that hasn't happened in a while and we caught ourselves sometimes keeping a DVD for weeks before we would watch it.

Yea, we had a similar ritual. Before we had kids and had almost zero money, we lived about a half mile from a video store, and we made a date night every Friday of walking to the local Pizza Hut, having dinner, going to the frozen yogurt store for dessert and stopping at the video store for a movie.

Later, we would do the Blockbuster thing like you describe with the kids.

The very first DVD player we purchased for ourselves for Christmas 1999 had a free month of Netflix in the box. After about 3 months of Netflix we never went back to Blockbuster again.

So we have a grumpy employee, having issues at home and taking it out on people at work. Constant whining about petty shit and being a ****. I had some tools of my own set out from working on something that wasn't even in the way so he kicked them across the floor Shit like that. He was also one of the most vocal about not working when it was smoky due to health reasons. Well, someone we both know sent me a screen shot from his sons facebook working and welding on a truck outside during work hours on one of the days he went home a month ago due to unsafe conditions. So since I am not above stooping to other peoples level I have been printing this off and putting them up around the building. Currently one is on the inside of a bathroom stall door and another is inside the fridge. We will see how this plays out

I mean he sounds like an ass but it's not like he called out sick. Or was it just as smokey outside at his house is that the point here?

If they showed up to work and we sent them home, which we let them decide if it was too smoky, we paid them for at least half a day If they were there over 4 hours and went home which happened the first day, we gave them the full day paid.

That's what happened with us. We would have a DVD for weeks, then send it back sometimes without watching it.

You decided what movie you wanted before you left.
Then you picked a backup in case they didn't have it.
Then you picked a backup for the backup.
There was nothing more satisfyingly than seeing a wall of empty cases and then having some blue shirted teenager say "Oh I think a copy was just returned".

No, I am technically do not have a management position and don't treat anyone as if they are under me.

The issue between him and me is his son was fired last year. He thinks I am one of the ones that pushed for it. I had no decision in the matter but he thinks his son was fired to put me in his position.
