Yea, actually, in the end you need a Facebook logon for the 2, and as of 2023 it will be required for anything Oculus. You do get to keep a separate gamer profile. Not a big deal really, as I will not use the account for anything, and have basically turned all the settings to "Just Me". I'll never directly log into Facebook.

I started to just piggyback on MomHawk's FB account, but didn't want to add that mess to hers.

The 2 is definitely a visual improvement over the 1. Played Elven Assassin last night for about 90 minutes with my Son who also bought a 2. The two is lighter, faster and more crisp (no screen door effect) The standard strap is better then the 1. I've bought the "better" strap as well but haven't installed yet.

To me the FOV may be a little smaller in the 2 over the 1, both both are OK. It would be better if it were wider. As with the 1, the 2 has an IPD adjustment that seems not quite wide enough for my big head on the largest setting.

All in all, except for the FB crap requirement, I'm satisfied with it. Still haven't hooked it to my gaming PC yet. I have the cable, but prefer to sideload and do it wirelessly. Need to do the research to see if that is possible with the 2.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been making the rounds, in terms of good marketing. Of course, CD Projekt Red is a reputable game developer, but the way they handled the creation of this game, getting Keanu Reeves onboard, hyping everyone up with monthly Night City Wires. Man, I actually have no words, I'm hyped for this.

True, but not new really. This happened before, and if you really cared you created a new account.

The issue here is that once you bind your Oculus account to it, you lose anything you've purchased when it's banned. That's the real issue.

BTW, in the little reading I did on this a lot of folks having this issue were using burner accounts, or at least trying to. I had no issue creating an account for this purpose. I'll never log into Facebook for "Facebook" things, and don't use the login on anything I use except the Oculus.

Still, Facebook is messing this up. The account should never be a requirement, but it's not really any different than what Apple, Google, Microsoft do to more or lesser degrees.

Just found this thread - my people <3

Have been an avid gamer since my mom brought home her first work laptop and we loaded Diablo 1 and Starcraft onto it in 1998 (which came out 3 days after my birthday), and then Diablo 2 in 2000. Then in 2004 I built my first computer and have been building ever since. Current life stuff makes it harder to game, what with hunting and work, and yada yada.

CURRENT SETUP (not how this looks anymore, I moved recently)


I love the NHL games and they are the only reason I have an Xbox. Otherwise, everything is on PC and I currently have over 600 games, maybe played half of them hahaha.

SUPER stoked for Cyberpunk and Assassins Creed Valhalla. My main games are open-world RPG where I can just do whatever I want and fuck stuff up. Tom Clancy's Wildlands was one of the best games ever made. So poorly optimized, but so damn fun. Breakpoint really didn't do anything for me but it is good. Just Cause 2 is probably the best open-world RPG ever made though. I still need to play the new Ghost of Tsushima game, will probably buy a PS4 for dirt cheap just to play that game and then sell it or let it collect dust
