Fuckit, I have no idea what I'm talking about apparently. Here, read this.

They repeatedly say that July was named to honour Julius Caesar. That is not correct. July was named BY Julius Caesar. The whole calendar reform was done by him.

August was named for Augustus Ceaser... maybe that's the source of the confucius.

Didn't Augustus Cesar come after Julius?

Actually it's Ceaser Augustus (I got it backwards first) and he was the first.

No he wasn't the first. He was Julius Caesar nephew or something like that. He hunted down Julius' assassins.
Oh and any "Caesar" after Julius used the word as a title not a name so either order is correct.
I am a huge fan of any history show with Tony Robinson in it.
I just watched this one last week

Caesar Augustus (23 September 63 BC – 19 August AD 14) was the first Roman emperor, reigning from 27 BC until his death in AD 14.[nb 1] His status as the founder of the Roman Principate has consolidated an enduring legacy as one of the most effective and controversial leaders in human history.

A superb general and politician, Julius Caesar (c. 100 BC – 44 BC / Reigned 46 – 44 BC)

Julius Caeser was not an "Emperor" he just started the empire ball rolling. There was several people that ruled the Empire between 44BC and 27BC.

DUDE DID YOU EVEN READ THE REST OF WHAT YOU LINKED????
"His maternal great-uncle Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC, and Octavius was named in Caesar's will as his adopted son and heir."

Julius Ceaser was a dictator, but not technically an Emporer.

Yes exactly! But Augustus still did not "come first". Yes he was the first Emperor but that is not what you said.

Haha no I meant I said Augustus Ceaser instead of Ceaser Augustus first. And then someone else made the same mistake second. I wasn't referring to the order of the leaders.
