Looking for recommendations..

Im fairly new to the 86 community.. I'm FI currently and custom tuned to 91. I would like to go full e85 and would like some insight on what I need to do next. I ordered an ECUtek and am in contact with a few places that can tune me.. what parts should I consider replacing with aftermarket?

talk to zach at csg, hes the resident 86 tuning god

but seriously, copy paste this to an email to csg and rest assured they will set you up the right way, instead of patching together some weird plan comprised of pieces of advice from random hot bois on the forum, and then taking it to them and having them look at you like a noob.

some talking points with them: if youre supercharged you can look into a high boost pulley, fuel injectors, fuel pump, higher torque clutch, and whatever hardware you need to run e. e sprays a shit load of fuel, your tank burns super fast. you need a pump and injectors that can move that volume of material.

Get a flex fuel sensor.

That way whatever mixture is in the tank will automatically adjust accordingly. Also allows you to switch fuels on the fly when needed.

Okay funny you say that, I've already spoke to Zach at CSG. I ordered my Ecutek through one of those authorized shops in my area. Im turbocharged and am running the SPD kit at 7lbs currently. Zach is on vacation currently, so I turned to this forum in the meantime.

This. It's well worth the expense IMO to have the option. Unless this is a dedicated track car and will never run anything but E85, Flex Fuel is worth it.

Yea, at the very least you'll want flex fuel for F/I e85 (for safety) and injectors. If you don't want to jump to a high boost pulley that alone should allow you to tune for the higher whp, and also for 91/93. Once tuned the F/F sensor will compensate for mixtures of any amount of 91/93 to e85.


Theoretically you can get away without the sensor but for F/I I wouldn't risk it since e85 values can vary wildly from pump to pump even. At the higher stress levels of F/I you really want the sensor to be sure its getting the appropriate amount of timing and whatnot.
