$5,000 for a SEMI AUTO ONLY sub gun shooting 9mm is just hard for me to justify, personally. Now... if we could get full auto, I'd be on board. Maybe the NFA/ATF will be repealed and abolished some day...but I doubt it, given the current culture.

I suppose I can ask this here...
Is it bad that I want a PS90 simply because it looks rad? |

While I don't own any MP5 variants (I regret not buying a HK94 back in the day when they were $450), I've had the opportunity to shoot a few different models, and the SD has got to be my favorite. Full auto is fun for sure, but I really liked the 2-round burst better than 3-round burst. Strange as it may seem, 3-round burst takes 'too long' even if it's a fraction of a second. I noticed this when doing some fun target transition drills and you want to move to the next target as fast as possible. 2-round burst is great as it's basically the perfect double-tap, and super fun doing an El Presidente drill with. Reloading is of course slower with an MP5 than with a handgun, but the fun factor makes up for it.

Agreed! Hey, I did get a chance to shoot some M249 and M240 variants including the Mk46 and Mk48. I fell in love with the Mk46. The Mk48 was just too much of a beast for me to handle. I'm left-handed, and when firing offhand (well, trying to), my right forearm got beat up by the violently-ejected hot cases and links.

And the MP5 has such a soft recoil impulse compared to an M4 (especially when suppressed) that it's MUCH easier to shoot effectively.

Same here. They are damn sexy. I'd like to own some roller locked goodness one day.

Just curious - I grew up fascinated by the MP5 because I was influenced as a young teen seeing the SAS storm the Iranian Embassy, and of course the movie Die Hard; but I'm wondering what you younger guys (I'm making an assumption) experienced that makes you want one. I mean, it's a pretty old design, and back then there weren't all the different pistol caliber carbines or semi-auto versions of sub guns that we have nowadays. Does the MP5 still hold its legendary status with the younger generation as it does with us older guys, or...? And why? Just the love of classic and cool designs? I mean, as far as ergonomics go, the HK series of weapons can't beat an AR platform in speed and manipulation, but for me, they're still very cool even though they're a bit outdated. I still have a HK93 which is no where as easy to shoot as an AR, but I still like having one. It also draws way more attention than an AR, and I'm sometimes surprised by that.

Understood, and same here. I regret not picking up a Bren Ten 10mm in the mid 80's because I wanted a 1911. Which of those two are more common now?
