Toyota really wants to attach a "young and hip" image with Scion, so this isnt a big Surprise for the US.
AE86 marque/name is more synonimous in Japan than it is in the states. The FT will come out with an "86" badge there and thats no surprise either, it'll even have that old school TOYOTA (in katakana writing) on some of the labels. Globally, I think this car will come out as Celica under Toyota. I'm not 100% sure if Subaru will release it Globally though under its name anyways. |

If you're worried about being thrown into a group of "pimple faced teenagers" because your car is a Scion then you probably have some personal issues to attend to. I find it funny that a lot of the diehard Toyota 86 fans are so concerned with image, yet the original 86 wasn't marketed toward those seeking image. I mean, look at the thing! It only looks awesome because you know its capabilities. The original 86 was 1) inexpensive and 2) fun to drive! Those two characteristics DEFINE Scion as a brand. Now, I know capability doesn't exactly define Scion... but this car could change that. Either way, no need to get up in arms yet. |

People b..tch and complain about it being a Scion now just like people B--tched and complained that Toyota dropped the celica and made it the Scion tC .. but guess what look how great that car did and still is.. and the sad part the people that complain the most are the ones that can't affored the car, or will never be able to get it. |

Most Seem to be against the 25K+ marks that they would have to pay if it was a Toyota. I hate it when people forget and whine about things they can't afford. Most people looking to purchase this are college graduated fresh out with out a job. That are waiting to purchase their first or second cars. I guess to put it bluntly Bish why you whining, not like you can even afford it when it comes out. and like no offense or anything but like take a look at the reality of things. The harsh reality. This being a Scion might be your only chance of getting a good RWD car to play with, before moving up to the big leagues. Your going to want your extra earned money to do other things. Toyota is hitting things right on the spot from a marketing perspective. a Cheap RWD sports car. last time I check Toyota sports anything wasn't Cheap and we're talking today market. Don't bring figures from before the Econ crash. If a 2001 Celica was released in today market it be 25K plus. Supra would be GTR pricing level. 20K Scion? F yeah if it does what it's suppose to do. I'm in it for the car, not the badge not the heritage. If I wanted Heritage I buy a Porsche. I'm totally cool with this being a Scion and who ever made a comment about people being ok with this as Civic Driver and TC driver. Wtf? is wrong with a Civic? it's a good car. |

Sigh... Kind of disappointed, seems Toyota wasn't listening to its fans. Now all we can hope is a good performing car to prove itself.
