what about tein coilovers?
the Tein Flex Z BRZ Coilovers were highly recommended by a few sites and YouTubers, but they are just under 1k. Keep reading you can't get quality for 1k, are they not quality?

I have them and I'm very happy with them. They're a little on the soft side, but I also dropped them beyond their "max" drop, and only have the dampening set to the middle. I don't drive hard or track my car, simply daily drive, and I think the Flex Z are perfect for that. I probably wouldn't suggest them if you plan on cornering hard, or at least don't really lower them too much if you do. I don't have any weird creaking or rattling coming from them (although my rear end links might be clanking since they're the OEM ones, I need to replace them with some adjustable ones). The ride is smooth and not shocking.

Ilyaastronaut: Flex Z are not very best out there, but they get prized exactly because they bring acceptable quality and good kit package (included camberplates) to that budget pricepoint without sinking to quality lows to reach cost goal. Flex Z mostly manages to do that by being unrevalveable/unrebuildable construction, but in case of need, damper is replaced as unit. Which, btw, has even pros, such as simplifying buying spares in advance and minimizing downtime, instead of undriveable car while you ship coilovers to seller/manufacturer for rebuild and then wait shipping back.

The Z’s are actually pretty comfortable with decent damping as long as you don’t run them too low. They rode a lot better then my T2’s on the street. Slightly less comfortable then the lowering springs I had before the Z’s. My T2’s are on stiffer springs(7.2kg vs 6kg), but they are a lot more money then the Z’s. I was pretty impressed with the way the Z’s worked for a 7-800 coilover that includes camber plates.

Okay gotcha thanks! To be honest, I'm young (20), inexperienced with performance cars in general, and juiced up on the idea of a car I can slide and learn to drive hard. Since I'm new and on a budget I like the sound of the Flex Z, especially from what you've told me! If I don't set them to their lowest think I can still have a positive experience with some more "aggressive" driving?
