Wish I had ethanol free gas near me.

VIN #230. zero chirping noises, just DI pump noises.

Sounds like I missed it narrowly, people on both sides of me have it.

There's a post on the FB page about this too, I had this chirping noise for awhile, and during a road trip I only stopped at Chevrons the whole way to SoCal and back to NorCal and do not hear it at all.

Someone suggested that gas that has ethanol may be the cause of it, might have something to do with it.

Been trying ethanol free fuel which has (for now) stopped my chirping noise. Luckily I have a station near me. I'll be filling up the next tank with normal 91 (10% ethanol) to log the issue with my dealer though.

Car drives better on ethanol free fuel. Shame it's more expensive and hard to find.

Seems like people who tried ethanol free fuel are making a difference. I guess we really narrowed it down.

there are a grand total of 4 ethanol-free stations in California, LOL. Not a valid solution.

Call me crazy, but won't this cause some issues with your cats and o2 sensors?

No CELs or anything so far. It's hopefully not a lifetime solution and ashless 2T oil blends & burns completely. Of course, use at your own risk. I don't foresee any issues at such a low ratio.

I am shocked it took so long for everyone to figure this out. I had to shout it from the rooftops on the FR-S forum. Surely others probably saw the correlation but weren't as vocal.

And I know squat about mechanical stuff compared to the senior tech people that frequen't this forum. I am handy restoring and fixing pinball machines, no hoist required.

I've been running ethanol-free fuel since my second tank (no idea what the dealer had in for the first tank, so just assuming it was crap gas), and mine still chirps. Loud.

Unconcerned.

I think the theory on ethanol free makes sense. I searched Yahoo Japan on this chirping issue to see if anyone in Japan is getting it, but apparently no one has even heard of the problem there. This is probably because they only use pure gas over there in Japan.

On a side note, I also drive a BRZ... 900 miles on it, and it started to chirp around 800 miles after I filled up the gas at a different station than my usual gas station.

What gas were you using and what did you switch to?

Just hit 1,000 miles, filled up at a Sunoco station instead of my usual ExxonMobile - pulled in to my garage... crickets. Dang. In CA, so using ethanol containing 91 octane.

Also the first time I've taken the engine past 5k rpm.
