Well that is really the same alternative I had just in a more organized and planned manner.

Made me think what a great cross-universe movie that would be. The Enterprise goes through some type of blackhole and ends up in a Galaxy Far Far Away. The try to maintain the prime directive but a Jedi detects them in the Force and hilarity follows.

Almost got taken out by an old Toyota pick up today.
I was sitting at a light waiting for it to turn, when I hear the screech of brakes. I look to my left and there is a early 90's Toyota Hilux type truck headed straight for my driver side door. Guy's trying to make a right turn in a turn lane and has lost all grip (it's lightly raining), he's not stopping. Fortunately for me (and probably him) there is a traffic island and a post with a pedestrian signal on it. He hits it, knocks it over and veers off because of the impact and his rear tires catching on the curb his front tires jumped. I start to get out to help the guy, but there was a cop who witnessed it and he wave me off. Last I saw the guy was getting out of the truck, so hopefully he's OK. Had he not hit that post and caught the curb I suspect I would have been injured he was traveling fast. Fortunately I was in the Suburban today which would have provided a little protection since the Hilux wasn't lifted but standard height. That'll get your blood pumping!

I have been trying to put a group together for a while. Everyone is either too busy, or I am too busy and I don't have the space right now.

Never heard of it over here. Looks like we had something similar but since the last update was the 2016 schedule I would guess it is gone. https://www.chumpcarcanada.com/
