There may be slight differences. The WRX has the front fender vents for example and the Levorg doesn’t.

Yeah and those taillights are kind of a Subaru design choice lately.

I think it partially validates the rumors that Toyota let Subaru have the reigns with the development of GEN II. So development and design might be 98% Subaru, with Toyota stepping in for their own final tuning, which probably amounts to messing with the dampeners or transmission logic.

Is this a new thing to some?
Of course they look similar and some elements are almost identical. It is what has been done for 100 years.

Gen 2, like Gen 1, will have mostly common elements anyway. As we already have seen they may have different bumpers, grills and interior trim to line up with each manufacturer's style but the rest will be the same. There may be a small amount of primarily Toyota parts but the car will remain mostly Subaru (or already common between the two) parts bin as it always has.
There is not much more "common" for the to share.

Scion may step in, provide all the goodness that will most probably be sucked out of the gen 2 due to Subaru going down the "safe" mode, lots of understeer.. As there people out there who don't want to "drift"...

Yeah, this. Its good design to tie your brand identity together with a common design language.
Mazda does a pretty good job of this imo.
