This should work well. I would caution against baits INDOORS, as they're designed to attract ants, but what are you going to do, right? I've used a gel application in my basement near where the water line came in, stopped their little trail and they haven';t come back for years! I'm sure me filling that whole area with foaming sealant is helping deter them a little, too

Once you've had rats in your house, ants don't seem so bad.

Terro will usually kill the colony once enough gets taken back. You will probably see an increase in ant activity for a day or two as word gets out they found something tasty. If the first bait station looks to be getting low, might be a good idea to set another out to make sure enough gets taken home to finish the colony off.

I'm still getting the "creepy crawlies" feeling and I HATE it.
![]() yeah, my parents had mice a few years back. They had to get rid of food and rethink their food storage setup to protect from them.

One of them caught it, a 18 inch long (head to tail) gray rat (I call it a wharf rat but I don't think that's technically correct). That began the great rat hunt. We ended up trapping 4 others and found a nest in the suspended ceiling of our basement that had about a half dozen babies. They had gotten in through a portion of the house where a cantilevered sink area extended over the basement wall and the contractor had left a 1/2" gap a little above ground level. It took me almost 6 months to find it though. Momma was NOT happy.

Hah! No, but another story.
The house I lived in from 6th grade until college was built by my Grandfather on a farm they bought in NC before I was born. They moved to KY to a different farm that year and my parents bought the house from them. When my Grandparents first bought the property it had a house on it that looked very much like that. They were living in the house while my Grandfather built their new home (he was a master carpenter amongst other things). It was taking forever though, because he had a day job. One night, he woke up from a sound sleep to find a very large rat sitting on his chest just looking down at him. The new house was finished in six weeks.

In Florida we have palmetto bugs (super roaches). WE hitch them to wagons to go to market.
What a marketing ploy. |

I brought the old dollar back to where it was originally printed. It's thankless work really but someone has to do it. (I'm in St. Louis right now for all of about two hours)

We always had lots of Norway rats in the South bay area in California. We used to sit out at night in the backyard with our Crossman 760s and wait for them to go by on the utility wires.
It didn't matter how well you sealed your house. Sooner or later, you had rats. They were super healthy since they mostly fed on dog food people left out. Constant battle. We were always putting poison in the crawl space and attic. My at my last house, our back neighbors were hoarders, and had a junkyard in the backyard (always look on google earth before buying a house), and we had chickens. Battling the rats was a daily chore. Here in Idaho, other than the occasional badger, the only rodents I've seen is mice. I've killed 5 in the garage in the last 6 months. I guess they are just looking for shelter. My garage is very neat still, and there is no food in the garage. |

We had raccoons in our attic for the first year we lived in our house. Rats would have been a treat in comparison.
