Let the Rebadging begin.....

I may be ignorant because I don't know much about scion.

But I get the imagery that this car would be nice and cheap and beatable!!

When I bought my ITR years ago, I couldn't care less that it was badged as Acura instead of Honda. It actually was a good thing for several reasons, it had better/longer warranty, slightly lower insurance rates (until they became the most stolen car).
In this case, if this comes out as a Scion, it may be a bad thing actually. Scion brand does target younger drivers, college students, chic crowd. With that in mind, the FT-S may be loaded with a bunch of useless junk, 'hip' styling accents, which in the end will add to the weight, and take away from the feel that this car should have.

I am of the same, a badge is a badge the engine and performance are all the same. My only problem is the interior might be compromised now.

if the interior is compromised...the rest of the world's interior would also be compromised...

Simply rebadging the car is not an option people. It will still be sold as a Scion, known as a Scion by the public, and be on Scion's website. Changing the badges on your one car does nothing. The car needs to be a Toyota offically. Help fight the cause.

wait, so just because it's a scion everyone is in uproar? have you seen the Corolla interior? How bout a Yaris? Those things are penalty boxes!! I thought the TC interior was palpable, not as good as my Prelude's interior, but my Prelude had a 30k dollar sticker price when new, and that was with 1998 US dollars! Common people, this is not a big deal, you expected this to have a cheap ish and light interior, and if you hate Scion as much as I do....

REBADGE!

oy....

Here in Sweden, it's quite uncommon for anyone to be able to haggle when it comes to a brand new car. Like with Scion in the US, Swedish car retailers have fixed prices, but are willing to throw in a few extras (winter tires most commonly). Fixed prices is a good thing if the prices are fairly low to start off with.

And to be honest, Toyotas history pretty much got washed away when they killed off the Celica, MR2 and Supra and at the same time made the Corola hideously ugly.

I don't think toyota USA has a big say on what car the will be badged as, but.. its worth a try.

No, but it would be nice if you could have the OPTION.

Scion> Toyota ok

GTR>Scion Not ok

btw... it's RED O___O
It's ****not**** about the little piece of plastic that is on the nose of the car. Heck, it's not even about the stigma attached to the brand name. It's about the thought process that went on behind the scene that said "hey, let's bring this to the US as a Scion". If you think about what went on to arrive at that decision... nay, if you consider why it even crossed their mind, it is a worrying thing. Deeply disturbing. Doesn't say much for Toyota. At all.

One might get the same car now, but that all you'll get.

If anything, this car should help bring out the Scion brand as something other than a poser mobile. And I mean, look at the original FT concept, even that looks like it was meant for younger guys, and not meant for those looking for a luxo coupe. Scion supposed to embody that, and that's ok

Sure we get the annoyence of having to rebadge, but it's not that hard, and I think it's better that I don't have to look at all the beige toyota has to offer when I'm trying to get my boxer engined car.

I know what the real problem is and i am going to just say it. Every one sees scion drivers as pimple faced teens who don't know how to drive. while this is not true this is how the world sees them. No one wants to be seen that way or as the guy trying to recap his youth with a rice burner. Since i am 23 I don't care. The only thing that i do care about is the difference in insurance price because the company sees the drivers as 17 year old pimple faced Micheal Schumacher wannabe.

yaaay it's a scion. -_-

seriously after all the rumors, i can't say that i'm surprised. i hope they reveal a close-to-production interior in ny so we can confirm whether it will get the cheap scion treatment or not. luckily we have the subaru to pin our hopes on if the scion is a let down.
