Help with BRZ eBay Backup Camera Install

Hi all,

Disclaimer: Before I start, let me just say I've spent several hours browsing the forums, watching several YouTube videos before I couldn't find the answers to my questions. I've read RickyBobby's https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...5&postcount=20 post, and while it was great and very informative, due to the fact that he has a different camera (and therefore different wiring) I wasn't able to find much support for my case.

I bought a backup camera from eBay and a wiring harness from autoharnesshouse as opposed to the one that everyone usually seems to get; the EviSystems backup camera kit. I've seen other cameras used like the Rydeen Duo but unfortunately even that camera comes with the single convenient black wire unlike mine :/

Problem:
1) The backup camera from eBay comes with a negative and positive wire as opposed to a single 'plug'; I have no idea where the negative wire goes to. This is the link to my camera, http://www.ebay.ca/itm/254659666790
In the ad link, you can see their wiring diagram and the positive and negative wires split off from the black cable. Again, I have no idea where this goes or attaches to.

2) The camera also comes with that super long wire with two yellow connectors that you're supposed to run along the car (from trunk to HU); there's two short red wires coming out of each connector that I also have no idea of where it goes.

3) The autoharnesshouse wiring harness also comes with this relay that no ones seems to have covered? Where do I install it, why are there no screws to install it with, do I just let it hang? etc.

This is my first post so I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong section or if this has been covered before (I genuinely have been searching for hours and cannot find an answer or someone with a similar experience to mine).

Thanks in advance for stopping by!

The red and black wire is most likely for either your reverse trigger wire or a 12v accessory source and black for ground.

I would try contacting Bryan at AutoHarnessHouse. He's helped me out with my camera.

I just installed a cheap reverse camera in my BRZ last weekend. I don't know what the autohouseharness is, but my camera wiring is similar to yours (based on the eBay link).

The red and black wire is the power wire for the camera. Choose a key on/engine on source for red, connect black to ground. Any ground will work. I connected mine to the ground screw under the trunk sill plate.

The yellow line is the video wire. The red line on the yellow is to carry a signal to the radio for when the vehicle is in reverse, the BRZ should have no need for this. Ignore it. (Well, first find the signal check in the radio settings that shows "yes" or "no" for reverse, parking brake, etc. and confirm it switches between "yes" and "no" when shifting in and out of reverse; then, ignore the red line on the yellow plug).

I just installed it today, thanks to both of you for your helpful comments.

Thanks for this, it helped a lot. I ended up doing it but connecting the reverse (purple) wire to the red wire from the camera PLUS a jumper to the other reverse power wire (orange and white).

I referenced https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48999 for anyone looking to do something similar in the future
