If you want more detail, you are right for the US models.
For EU , the manifold change did not happen even in manual models. The manifold change ( not the plastic cover on top) plus some other internal changes led to an increase of 5BHP and 5NM on the new manuals (17 onwards). Google up changes to 2017 MY, you will find a load more changes made. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk |

I love the "the underlying shape is the same, but it's lower, wider because we made the front look like its lower wider even though its the same" portion.

To be honest all I ever read of it was the technical parts so never really caught the marketing parts. It is really just crib notes for sales guys to sound knowledgeable but at least the data is sound.

I had a blue one that was loose (they are all pretty loose) and fell off onto the header heat shield and melted. Luckily I smelled it before it caught fire. What a mess.

So I read through the file that Tcoat posted and edited the summary one more time and added a picture. It's nice to know the reasons behind the changes that the engineers make. We now have an easily referenced post that explains what I was wanting to know without having to search through an entire PDF document. Thanks Tcoat.

Sir, I saw no blue ones in the information that YOU provided, which included ONLY a transition from model year 2016 to model year 2017.
Perhaps there were blue engine covers made by the manufacturer in a PREVIOUS model year, or for that matter a model year from 2018 and up. That is the reason why I asked. No need for the sarcasm (If that's what your question to answer my question was). I'm just here to learn from you guys that have owned these cars for much longer than I have, as well as to share the knowledge that I have accumulated during my lifetime on other automobile-related issues. So, again, I ask (and just to be MORE SPECIFIC): Were there any OEM blue plastic engine covers ever produced for the FA20/4U-GSE engines, or are they manufactured only by aftermarket companies? |
