Eyesight will only be on the AT versions...and likely only on the Subaru AT versions...

Maybe the front end is longer to fit the old Subaru 3.6 in there

First clear look at GR86 / BRZ prototype during testing

I’m not so sure about that. Subaru will have to figure out eyesight on manual cars at some point soon anyway, providing they intend to keep a manual option on the next STI. I would be extremely surprised if the STI goes auto only, or the BRZ for that matter.

VW has had emergency braking on the manual golf for an entire generation now, Subaru can figure this one out.

Active safety measures are so important for insurance groups right now, especially in Europe, that most manufacturers can’t afford to not put it in their future cars.

Could Subaru Discontinue Manual Transmissions in the Name of Safety?

Perhaps The Future Of Subaru’s Manual Transmission Isn’t So Bleak After All

Emergency braking tech is not a reason to kill the MT.

Your sourceless PDF proves nothing.

There are 2 cars I know of running the ez30's (subaru 3.0 h6 engine) and their engine bay still had room to spare. Best motoring even did a comparison with one of the cars.

Well that is encouraging, I always feared safety tech would be the death nail for the manual but good to see they will try to work around some of the issues.

It wouldn’t be hard to create a automatic clutch in effect if you wanted to simply force the car into neutral if you wanted to.

I'm not a BRZ owner - but I've got a 20'Civic Type R. It had auto lane assist, adaptive cruise, and emergency braking. It all works flawlessly with my manual transmission.

Eyesight won't kill the MT.

PS I'm on this forum because I was so damn close to buying an 86.

You don’t even need an automatic clutch in. VW didn’t bother with it because most drivers instinctively clutch in when the emergency stop triggers. And if you don’t, oh well the engine stalls. No harm there.

Gordon Murray has put a 650hp+ 10K+ engine into something lighter than a Miata, and it has a manual transmission. I think I’ll be good.

My Kenwood dash cam integrates with my Kenwood headunit, and it has lane departure warning, collision warning and take off warning. I will second what the other guys said above.

It would help to read past the headlines but since you didn't I will Cliff Notes for you.

Link #1: Subaru is not developing Eyesight technology for MT vehicles.
Link #2; SoA is continuing the commitment to offer MT versions of the Crosstrek, Impreza, WRX, STI & BRZ.

The "sourceless" PDF was written by me in Feb 2020. Specifically to document how correct I was/am on the BRZ²

We will never turn away a CTR owner! I think you made a great choice, the FK8 Civic Type R will be known as one of the best sport compact cars ever. Like many of its predecessors.
That being said, there is some magic in the 86/BRZ twins, so I understand it was a tough choice.
