CT Area Meets

I checked the NJ/NY/CT Thread and it was pretty much people selling parts so I'll try here. I'm trying to go on a cruise meets with fellow 86/BRZ owners in Connecticut. Im in the New London County area, I've seen some around but this was all before I had my BRZ (Funny how that works). The FB group for car meets is usually filled with people just talking sht and bashing each other over Civics, on top of that those meets are in New Haven/ Hartford and I refuse to go to those cities, bad juju. Hope to see some of you out there soon!

Lately all I've been doing is taking lots of vacation time and sailing my sailboat though. Social distancing level: EXPERT

CT is actually one of the better states, everything is open back again, and you can't go inside anywhere without proper PPE. Even cruising around would suffice to me. Like I said, there's tons of meets happening at CT, but it's in an area where I absolutely refuse to take my car to. Mostly because of crime and accident rate, plus people don't know how to behave on these meets, ruin it for everyone.

Have not seen a lot for CT. Don’t see much on the BRZ forums. I know on Nasioc there are some tri state drives that happen. They welcome any cars and drive some nice roads but it might be too far for you.

I drive the Harriman’s and other roads on the weekends in the morning. I go to do some spirited runs and chase GT3s, Lambos and Ferrari’s. They sound so good. Plus, with hikers, cyclists and slow cars those high HP cars can’t really get away from me. I tend to go alone because sometimes too many cars together attracts police attention. Every time I go I see the police, so you need to be relatively responsible. But there are plenty of good roads here in Rockland and northern westchester. .

We used to do some pretty decent meets (maybe 15 cars mostly BRZ/FRS) in the Danbury area but I haven't been to any in a couple years. They also moved to a more Facebook platform and I don't do FB.

One of the better States is great so people need to be careful to keep it that way.
Still a long way to go.

I checked that FB page and seems like there hasn't been much activity lately. At this point I hope to run into other 86s on the road and try to arrange something. Where I live the most predominant car is the WRX or Civics, I thought maybe being it summer and COVID measures being a lot more relaxed I would see more 86s around.

There is an 86 owners club on FB. I don’t do FB, but I met them once in Harriman. Other than that, I have never seen a group of twins. But I see plenty of twins with WRXs, BMWs and other car groups.

^^ LOL

The 86ONE group on Fb is pretty good people, far far better than any other car group I've been involved with on Fb. There haven't been many meets the last few months for obvious reasons, they'll come back eventually. There was a small meet, probably 30 or so cars, in Danbury on Sunday that looked calm and happy when I went by but a half hour later when I was going the other way there were state and local PD there making everyone leave. CT is taking things pretty seriously so I'd say relax and wait it out, these things will come back eventually.

What are you talking about bad juu? I move around the state constantly, all over the northeast actually to the tune of about 35k miles a year, and have never had problems any more significant in one part than another. New London is certainly no picnic and is definitely not any worse than those other two cities you dissed. Most of the old cities around the region have questionable neighborhoods so either just drive through or avoid those small zones. The downtown core in Hartford is actually pretty cool and the BBQ restaurant there is great, in New Haven the College Street neighborhood is also pretty cool and not a bad place to hang out with a few great pizza joints and the theater gets some great shows (when shows start back up again).

[QUOTE=gravitylover;3352947]^^ LOL

I haven't come across that particular group on FB, but I'll check it out. I guess I just got carried away after buying this car that I instantly just wanted to start going to meetings and what not.
I live right on the border with Rhode Island, so going anywhere including Hartford, and New Haven, is a hike, to get shutdown after maybe an hour, and then drive an hour and half back home on I-95. Hell to the no.
I know what you mean about cities having bad/good areas, trust me, I've seen the best/worst they can offer, but until people learn how to act like adults on the meetings happening lately, I guess I'll be cruising the New London, Stonington Counties by myself.

I'd be interested. You're right, the FB groups are kind of a joke.

Yeah that 86 Owners of New England is pretty good. There are members that will tune your car for free and it's a really conversational group of people. Anyway...

I guess I don't think of 45 minutes to an hour as so significant as to stop me from doing something. Yesterday I had to see someone in Williamstown Mass about 100 miles from home so I jumped in the car around 11am and headed up there. I made a few other visits on the way back south and was home before 9pm. Listen to some tunes, do some business and smoke some good weed - eezy peezy. 300 mile days are a regular thing for me so my perspective is different. Heck, it's at least 75-90 miles each way for me to go to the beach and we go a few times a month.
