Spent some time this weekend hooking up my Oculus Quest to work with Steam wirelessly through streaming and desktop mirroring.

Worked great with Google Earth, and Skyrim VR (the only VR game I own on Steam).

I tried to play Skyrim with the running turned on (vs Teleport) as I had played through Vader Immortal that way with no issues. Unfortunately I couldn't get the mechanics down enough to even walk in a straight line. Sometimes up moved me back, sometimes it would move me forward. I'll have to switch it to Teleport to see if it works better.

I've played WatchDogs2 a couple of times. Quite enjoyed the large open world.

I was looking forward to WD3 but it has fallen off the radar due to postponement.

I got coaxed into playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint finally. While we've been doing the "immersive" play through, it is abundantly clear it was designed as an RPG first and tactical shooter second. But as much as it pains me to say it, I'm actually having fun with the game. My only real qualm is some of the glitches and the fact that the creators couldn't get simple details correct. Oh, and bullet drop. I'm spoiled by ArmA 3 where I can hit something at 500m if I choose. This game, I can't even hit someone at 250m without aiming way over their head.

At 250m a ~mach 1.5 bullet will travel for about half a second before reaching the target, and will drop a little over 2 meters in that time. So that checks out I think.

While I can buy into that, the compensation is like aiming at 500-750m. Then again, I haven't done long range shooting in real life for years.

We have a ~90 degree field of vision, and I think games usually restrict the window to ~60 degrees because the screen we are looking at doesn't fill our whole visual field. Maybe that's why it seems off?

Also, game devs don't necessarily do a lot of long distance shooting either lol.

The upcoming MS Flight Sim looks awesome! I almost picked up the steam edition when it was on sale recently, but after watching the videos for the new one decided to hold off.

Actually, I've had the privilege over the years of meeting some game designers. A lot of them, when assigned a task, do go out and do the task to learn the mechanics of it. Not all, but the better ones do.

Now, that doesn't mean they are allowed to include the most realism in the game.

Oh for sure there are some who do the research! However, Ubisoft seems to have gone down the Airsoft wet dream route with the sheer inaccuracies of even basic things. Still, it's a fun game if I turn my brain off.

The important thing here is the ship date! I didn't realize we were that close. I figured it be more towards the end of the year.

I wonder if we'll be able to get physical media for PC in the US? I can't recall the last decent game that was available on physical media. Makes me sad frankly.
