thing is tho... its 2012... most kits are comming with tuners now. Ill be perfectly honest its not a "bolt on" kit if you cant put it on and drive the car. Why import cars like to stay on this trend of lack of tuning is beyond me. Nearly every domestic kit on the market has tuning support with the kit... your working with the guy that has the tuner... so just include the thing.

Another note on the price being too high is the fact that there isnt even a manifold included... and a downpipe appears to be 200 extra. I understand that this is the first on the market and will be a bit higher and it looks to be pretty nice overall. Ideally tho for what you are getting 4500 with a tune seems more reasonable.

So buy something else, do you feel like you're achieving anything here by sandbagging yourself in with your opinion?

I challenge you to go out and get a workshop quote for something of equal or better value for the same price or less.

So your saying your perfectly content with a 6200$ price tag for a turbo, intake, oil pump/lines and an intercooler kit?

Your'e nuts..... there isnt enough product to justify it, because on top of it none of it is worth doing until you slap on another 1k for a tuner then another prolly 5-6 to get it tuned.

About getting a quote to get it done.... I already have... and it is much less for the same end result. The whole idea of a bolt on kit is that its just that a bolt on kit. Go compare it with any other kits out there and tell me you are getting your 6200 worth.

I simply want people to see the full picture of what its gonna actually cost in the long run with this setup. Again, im not shit talking the product it looks very nice for what it is... but its not gonna be able to keep up with any competition at that price margin once others arrive.

You get a 2.5" DP included, the 3" DP is more.

Go Don, you are front runner with 86 product and so will your customers be

Any word on pricing from HKS yet, we might find the SC is no cheaper, maybe even more $$

A nice choice for starters anyway

I've heard the Supercharger kit is going to be around $7500. Which sounds about right. Thats what HKS targeted back in the day with those other rotrex kits that were a flop!

A downpipe is included. The upgrade from 2.5" which fits factory to 3" is $200. Thats why its listed as an available option or upgrade. If the tuner was $300 dollars like it is for every domestic car that all it needs is a Diablo or SCT it would be a different story. I didn't screw up the car and make it all fancy w/ direct injection, so don't hold that against me. Fact is, the tuning for these cars is going to get far more expensive than the ECUTek w/ the acception of the cobb if they ever get around to it.

Its $4995

If anyone wants a tuning option, and doesn't want there own tuner or program. All you have to do is buy it from me! Its fairly simple.

Just because I set the MSRP at 6295 doesn't mean thats what it will go for. There is a minimum advertised price (map) I've given to vendors. Which is confidential and much closer to the introductory offer price! They market will battle out the sales and the price will go down.

If it stays at 5k I will agree that is much more reasonable being the first out, aside from the tuner... which I will just leave be at this point whats verdict on 6-8psi vs the 4? That seems to be the only other gray area right now on this kit.

The fact that irritates me Bill is that your posts seem like they attack more than ask me. I'm here to help, I enjoy the forum, I enjoy the new customers. I'm a very willing person to help if you'll let me.

Don't be off put by any of the pricing. Its a necessity that I set high MSRP's. Thats just the way the market is for everything anymore. I don't like it, but I deal with it everyday on every product we sell. You should see what some of the ridiculous MSRP prices and what they actually sell for. Sometimes it is 20%.

I am currently waiting on the software fix from ECUTek. Until we get an ability to change the factory load cut table to be modified we'll be stuck at 4. Any day now we'll be at 6 or even 7.

Don,

I praise you for taking the time to be so open with your kit and for keeping us updated as to what products you are building. Pricing is all relative to how the market dictates. If you can sell kits at $10,000, then set it at 10. What a lot of people on ehre do not realize, is that at the end of the day, he still needs to make a profit. The amount is all based on supply and demand. youc an complain all you want about the kit being too expensive, but you are getting quality parts, that were researched and engineered to create a quality kit.

If you can go get a kit cheaper than 5k, then do it. No one is forcing you to buy his kit. If you can wait, feel free to do so. There will probably be other kits out, which will increase the supply, and possibly drive the price down.

Until this happens though, I think Don is selling this kit for a steal, seeing as he has the only truely bolt-on turbo at this point, from what we've seen

5 K for this kit seems pretty fair. Building your own kit from scratch will cost the same-ish unless you are going to do all of the cutting, measuring, welding, testing yourself.... assuimg you have access to do and the skill to do these things.

Sure all the parts dont add up to that amount, but you are paying for some ones knowledge, skill, research, and overhead to produce the kit.

Who else has made a kit so far? No one? Well than expect the first developed parts to be more expensive. No completion, no price war.
