Not sure. It's such a weird setup anyway with the Harman GPS being an add-on module to the headunit that was a separate option. I probably should just replace it, since I also want a map update and they are stupid expensive, plus must be installed by the dealer. In the end though, it still works to get me from here to there, and that's all I really need it to do.

Oh yes, once fully assembled, you are more than welcome to see how much better [or worse] you are at it than the dimwit who wrote the instructions.

What kind of steel? Are you doing the heat treating yourself or is there a company you plan to use? What kind of handle material are you going to use?

Seeing this makes me miss it... wish I still had a garage to work in whenever I wanted.

My wife and I have been watching Cardinal, based in bandit country that @Tcoat will appreciate. Lots of knives, bows and other analogue killing devices.. very strange considering it's set in a very rural location..

Yeah, I remember talking w you about knife making. I’ve finally pull the trigger & start doing it.

Metal I’m using is 1080. I heard that 1080/1084 is best for the beginner. My buddy made coffee can forge, so we’ll be doing heat treating ourselves... til we gotta do O1, D2 or other mystical metal for beginner to heat treat lol As for the handle, I’ll be using G10 plus maybe adding some carbon fiber for the looks. Still still debating on final design.

I just bought belt sander, sand papers & few filers from harbor freight to get this far. It’s not THAT hard to get into. Hardest part is prob heat treating... which I haven’t done it yet. Plus some custom jig you might want to make filing easier.

I’m no expert, but if you do start, buy shit tone of sandpapers, cuz you’ll use A LOT of em. Of course, you can do 1095, 440C or other better metal... but for beginner wolf will prob agree w me to use 1080/1084 steel.

I have about 4000lbs of scrap 5160H at the moment and I know how to heat treat that so I will probably fail at that a bunch for the sake of learning.
