no it was just a general data, and easy car to base acceleration on, i have friends that own mustangs, i know exactly how their straight line acceleration feels

personally i want something thats a bit faster than a 3.7L mustang here in a few years but keeps all the character of my FRS, im not going turbo either, but going supercharged instead

im just following this build because with turbo charging, you have similar issues with supercharging, a 280 whp goal supercharged is a nice goal to build to, but if i end up with 250 or 260 whp ill be just as happy, i like to go very fast down 1 lane country road and tear down dirt roads aswell, im not looking to drag race a mustang, im more in the territory of tearing down dusty dirt roads with my subaru buddies...

well local shop here got 387 whp on a mustang 1100 series dyno
some 5.0L mustangs come with really bad transmissions that fail quickly, a badly built transmission will suck power as its transferred through the drivetrain...

also 5.0L power to weight would be perfect for drifting on wide sticky tires, i hope you reach your goal and have fun drifting!!!

Comparing mustangs to 86's is like comparing minivans to buses...

They're just too far removed from one another and built for completely different tasks.

If you want an 86 that's as fast as a 5L V8 or you want to torch tyres, put a V8 in it.

Drifting is not all about HP.

Well my rear wheels are 9.5in wide so I can get decently wide. If I need to I might be able to go as wide as 285. It wouldn't look so great because I like a little bit of the stretched look. I think this car would be good with 255 at 255whp. Maybe 275 at 300whp.

You're right, it's about torque. But this isn't a 240 or an RX7 where you can just casually drop in a LSx motor and call it a day. Many people want to have the reliability of the stock motor, the MPG's, NOT having to do a motor swap. Toyota would completely tear up any warranty you have with a V8. I already talked to them and they're going to let me keep every warranty except for drivetrain, which makes sense. Plus I don't foresee myself entering Formula Drift anytime soon lol.

Drifting is about car control, not HP, torque, or anything else really.

I'm thinking 7psi will be about 260whp. Maybe ~275whp for 8psi.

Nothing wrong with 350hp that you claim

Screw wheels! I rather have this!
