While on this topic, on Extreme Contact Sports vs Michelin PS4S, does one have a stiffer sidewall over the other resulting in better steering response and which has less road noise?

Yes stiffer sidewalls means better steering response and less chance of the tire rolling over on its shoulder during cornering resulting in less shoulder wear.

Stiffer sidewalls also means harsher impacts being felt through the cabin.

Road noise is dependant on tread pattern and internal construction of the tire and sometimes the rubber compound itself. Tread pattern plays into how the tire sounds when rolling. Internal construction plays into how the tire sounds during impacts (think of the differences in sound between a volleyball bouncing vs a basketball bouncing).

I just found out that 225 size tires are cheaper than 215 size. Wish I knew this years ago. Michelins PSS are much more affordable in that size.
