Angry Seat fake leather tearing at the seam and peeling off. Extended warranty refused

Hi,

I purchased the extended warranty with my brz and since almost a year I'm asking them to check and see if they can replace my driver seat that the more expansive "Fake" leather side that turned blue and ugly statted to tear at the stitching at many places and also started to peel. On the picture it's exagerated because I pulled on it to show them when they refused to change it and I was so furious. Who I can complain too? It's not worn, it's broken because it was stitched by retards on a bad cheap material. Even the real leather part looks like complete crap. The car is about 85 000 kilometers. I'm sure the base version seats look good until 250000 kilo.

From the looks of the bolster, you're chaffing pretty hard getting in and out... That probably puts a lot of stress on that pleather

Right side looks flawless. Definitely user error. Maybe he should try some Vaseline for that chaffing.

Well, that's a shame, there, nickson555 -

I suggest you could save yourself a lot of grief by just taking the seat into an automotive upholstery shop and get it recovered.

I have a slight amount of bolster wear at the seam even though I am extremely careful exiting. the faux PU is quite cheezy but now I am being conscious of how I get in.

buy an upper seat cover and go on.

I'm 5'8 170 pounds and I'm careful entering and exiting the vehicule. I turn and try not to touch it. I'm not wearing any metal ever. Right side is flawless because it's difficult to drive from that side especially with manual transmission so I mostly use the left seat 99.9% of the time. The seat portion of the side still looks perfect though. Why? The back is even torn where my back doesn't touch the seat at all at the top portion and at the bottom where it's impossible to reach.

Is there a part number I can order to replace only the seat cover, back portion? It's hard to find? Thank you!

What does that even mean (being careful when exiting)? I can't say I've ever given it much thought. Bottom line is that seat covers, just like tires, are wear items. If you drive the car long enough they'll need to be replaced.

That, by the way, is one of the reasons I don't like leather seats. The look worn too fast. I've had vehicles with well over 200K miles on them where the driver's seats (non leather) looked more new than 50K leather seats.

Never had to have a cloth seat repaired, every leather seat I've had either had repairs or needed repairs at "an early age"

How the hell did you do that? I am not careful at all and my knife clip always catches the bolster getting out. I have one tiny tear that I have had for a few years.

That sucks. Warranties generally don't cover any wear items so I'm not surprised they aren't doing anything about it.

It's not real leather, but you still have to clean and condition it to limit this kind of damage. Once it cracks, there is no way to stop it from peeling at some point. There is only so much you can do...

To keep my seats in perfect condition I installed SARD covers after a couple of months of ownership. I probably clean them more regularly than most, but 3 years and 64k kms I have no cracks or peeling to speak of. The SARD covers are also vinyl leather... so they are kind of a "sacrificial layer" to protect the OEM seat.

I would have preferred cloth seats myself but would have installed seat covers anyways. The covers weren't cheap, but as posted above replacing the skin on just a portion of a single seat is more expensive than a full set of some of the most expensive covers... so I think it's worth it.
