Some hit and left without notice

I realized some hit my car while parking his car. Luckily I have minor scratch (not noticeable) and a bent license holder. Thanks the dash cam recorded the impact. It took 1.5 h to fix it. I am just angry because he realized it and immediately park his car to another spot. What would you do?
I left a notice. I am aware that the problem on the bumper is not a big issue and most probably not worth to try to fix. I just don’t want him to walk away like this. Should I ask him for any compensation?

Thanks

Depends on what you want. But failure to report an accident, is also an offense, insurance company would likely fix it for you on his dime, if it were me I'd report it, get it fixed or keep the cash. Just my .02 btw I love that blue beauty. Good luck, I'd like to here what you decide to do.

I'd have fun with it. Print screenshot from dash cam, laminate and post around the area saying "this guy backs into cars and drives away." Leave a note on his windshield saying "caught on dash cam, police report made. Likely would have done nothing if you had left your information."

But I am an asshole

I'd confront the person politely that you gave dashcam footage of the accident and gauge their response before proceeding. They're responsible for damages.

I received a call from her 1h ago. She first asked which one is my car and immediately asked for proof especially the video. Later, She said that she was backing with 2 miles and realized touching something but since she was slow didn’t thing it was something important.
I asked why she didn’t leave a note since the only thing hitting like that could be car while trying to parallel parking. Also told her that I would not ask a cent if she put notice.
Since she was aware and did not admit until the video I am sad and angry. Asked for the grimmspeed locator. Either order one for me or pay the $80.
I can live with the minimal scratches.

You are absolutely right. Since I fixed the holder now she says I can’t see any problems. These idiot really need a lesson. The only concern that I have is that I never went through this process. I don’t want them to get the bumper out. Afraid of not having it flush again. How does is the process? Can I directly contact my insurance with the video? Or do I need the police report. Will it effect somehow my insurance ?

Do you have an insurance agent? If you really are in Boston call your insurance agent and tell them what happened, and email them the video. It should not affect your insurance at all. If you fixed the damage already though make sure you have all the receipts for proof.

get the police report first. you'll likely need to get a paper copy of the report afterwards. then call up your insurance and tell them the deal and what repairs need to be made and what evidence you've got. being that you can prove she did it, the method is usually that you would initially pay your deductible as if you had done the damage yourself. then your insurance company goes after the person(s) to get the money back.. if they fail to get anything out of it(my co-workers had an ongoing similar claim for $3k worth of door damage from a parking lot, and still hasn't gotten his deductible back), you're just out the deductible.

but for $80-ish, i wouldn't bother with insurance, and i'd just subtly harass them around the parking lot. like msg said-- post up flyers everywhere to warn people to watch out for the persons car, etc. just be irritating.

Dear why? and soundman98,

Thanks for the info and your suggestions. I am happy that we have friends here like you guys. Send her a message saying it’s up to her and will get a police report and go the insurance route.
5 minutes later she asked for my account number to transfer the money.

I hope that she cares more from now on.

Thanks again

This...if possible.

I try to park way off to the side or wherever people don't park. Then when I come back somebody is parked up against me...
