Ugmm...that was me and it is totally worth the weight, so there.

Besides, if it was designed for it from the beginning the weight would be minimized. Hasn't pretty much every expensive sports car been a targa at some point? Nearly every Corvette has been and of course the 911.

As long as they offer a fixed roof version, to each his own.

I still want this version of the 86, in a different color, maybe BRG.

Hmmm....not 86 related...but it seems that the 2021 Impreza is also getting a 2.5L in the Sport & Limited trims...similar to the 2020 Crosstrek that is supposed to get the 2.5L out of the Forester in Sport & Limited trims later this year...and will be available as a Sport with a M/T.

That would make the probability of a NA 2.5 in the Twins much greater.
My wife had a 12 Impreza and although it was a nice car the NA 2 in it made the FRS look like a rocket!

Like Dadhawk said, you'll be surprised how many ppl like targa.

Lil while back, I've made this concept and there were crazy amount of like and said that Toyota need to make this.

It's not my cup of tea... but that doesn't mean, shouldn't be made.

Should have Targa'd the WRB one but the black one works too.. Or just weld a cage in my red one and just cut off the whole roof/c pillars/etc...

If they could design the targa top in 2 pieces so it could store in the trunk, then awesome! I imagine a single large panel would need to be left at home, making the design too impractical.

What is the theoretical limits of the FA v. FB engines? The current FB makes 182@5,800 rpm. I'm guessing they could make the theoretical "217" number that has been floated by getting redline closer to 7,000. But from there, how much engineering would it take to retain anywhere near 100hp per liter. I feel like engine tech has evolved enough that they could get close without tanking emissions or fuel economy.

The GT3 and GT350 being examples of cars still pushing NA engines to the limit; but I understand the price bracket is entirely different.

And they sell one of those for every 20000 base models. Thus they have little effect on the average CO2 output for the model range.

217 at the wheels wouldn't be bad. That would be a big jump from what we have now. 217 at the crank would be less than my car makes now. I doubt the thing even exists at this point.

It would be amazing if they did that, sorta like they did with the original AW11 MR2.
But this being 2020, and all the lawyeristic regulatorism and cost-efficientish stuff that must go on, I'm skeptically-hopeful.

While we are being ridiculous...

They could just take half the gas tank out, add a small battery pack in it's place, and add an electric assist motor between the engine and firewall good for about +50lbft at the push of a button or something. Regenerate under reverse load/braking. Possibly shift the CG back a percentage point or two. And call it a day.

Or just add a pack to the spare wheel well and give you a patch kit instead.

Edit:. Better yet, add the assist motor to the differential. Greater torque in gears up to 5th I think.

I would absolutely LOVE a targa BRZ!!!!

But the odds of that happening are somewhere between zero and nothing.

considering the blue one actually happened, but your's is a render, i can see the difference. yours has a longer passenger area, which looks a lot better. but it's just not reality!
